well I have a 199 SHO 5 speed with 78k miles on it.
seemed like it was pulling to the right, so I got it aligned and found out that I need new front tires and that my alignment was bad.
toe was fixed, but they couldnt do the negative camber.

so my 2 questions:

Is there any way to fix negative camber? camber kit etc?

What would cause the negative camber? I believe it was -1.3 on both sides.

note: stock suspension on the car/stock everything

Thanks in advance

camber could be caused by a number of things. could be as simple as a few bad bushings, or could be bad/bent strut, bad strut rod itself. has the vehical been towed recently? tt driver hook it wrong and yank something he shouldnt have?

hasnt been towed recently that I have seen or know of. Im thinking maybe bad bushing or ball joint just didnt know what some common items might be to check at the mileage point. I know it had newer struts installed at 65k miles.

I wouldn't worry about anything if all your parts are good. -1.2 isn't that bad, I'm at -2.0 right now. As long as both sides are negative you are ok, if thats the case it will not be the cause of your pull either. It will actually handle a bit better and the suspension is designed to run negative camber anyhow.

you can drill out the spot welds on the strut tower where the mount goes to gain some adjustability.

When you say stock suspension, do you mean original??

yeah all original and stock. couple things replaced but nothing really related to this. struts are all I can think of.

Steering feels loose as well. That is my bigger concern really. Didnt know altogether what are common things to go at this age/mileage. I am going to look at it soon and check for obvious things, but good guess be bushings or ball joints?

yeah that what I figured. my worry is more about the steering feeling kinda loose. and doesnt handle better I would say almost worse than stock really.

if your having loose steering feelings 99 times out of 100 on this car its going to be one of these things

-subframe bushings
-rack bushings/not bolted in good
-bad inner or outer tie rod
-bad rack
-sometimes a loose pinch bolt where the column connects with rack can give you a loose feeling in the steering as well.......

one way to tell bad things is to turn the car off, leave the wheels touching something so there is weight on them. wiggle the steering wheel to where you feel it is how it acts when loose, at that time start looking to see what part of the steering mechanism is moving and what is not. For instance, if you had a bad rack, your column would be moving just the same as your wheel, but the tie rod ends comming off the rack would not be twitching at all.... its harder to tell this on a rack n pinion type gearbox.

You can pick the tires off the ground and shake them at the 9 and 3 oclock position gently and have someone else or yourself inspect the inner and outer tie rods for any movement. If your moving anything the slightest bit in a perfect scenario.. the other tire should be moving as well. If you can move that wheel a 1/4 inch lets say, and the other one doesn't twitch, something is loose, next u would see if the outer tie rod on the tire u are shaking is moving, if it is and the other side isn't, its a bad inner tie rod. If the inner isn't moving and u see slop on the outer one, its a bad outer tie rod. Also have someone move the wheel generously to check rack bushings... the rack shouldn't travel sideways the slighest bit..... you can pick up car by body and see if the subframe bushings are gone/destroyed/sloppy... I advise aluminum subframe bushings, they make the steering feel much nicer just by themselves.

control arm bushings, balljoints, strut mounts... those kinds of things aren't going to give you a loose sensation in the steering.......

A loose steering feel is most likely the knuckle on the shaft, if they just aligned the car they would have found any items that were loose if there were any.
Also as long as you drive somewhat aggressive you will not see any increased inner tire ware with -1.3 deg.

yeah, I found out alot of the feeling was from bad front tires. insides were almost to wires. but better now. Only issue really now is sitting at idle runnning, you can hear and feel (through the shifter) a whining noise, which is a vibration through the shift ****. any ideas?
