I know at one point their was a thread to this but I could find it hence the new one. My issue is probly obvious the switch is bad. But to verify current issues are as follows.

About every two weeks or so for about a two months the car thinks I'm trying to steal it and won't let me start it. After fiddling with key fob cycling the ignition with both keys eventually it will start longest it did this was 15 minutes. Very fustrating. Started yesterday my alarm is randomly going off sometimes even when I start to enter my door code. Turns off when I'm done entering code. Also doors are not auto locking when shifting into gear.
Are the two issues linked or is the pats system seperate from the alarm. The second time it did this I had a mechanic at work hook the computer up and it pulled ignition transponder and that switch. My thinking now is they are tied together.

So if the mushroom is my issue who has these switches?

Damn there goes the alarm again:frown:

The PATS and the alarm are the same thing. Have you recently had a new keys cut and programmed for the car? An what exactly is the "mushroom switch"? Never heard anything like that before.

Keys are the original ones. The ignition transponder is part of the ignition switch that reads the coding for the key. May have worded that wrong. And the mushroom switch I believe is what some people call it. That's what its called on v8sho. On fords web site its just called a 20mm plug switch. If you open your hood its a black switch thats atached to the fender next to the battery. When the hood closes it presses down on the switch. Not sure if its open or closed when the hoods shut. If the two are tied together then fixing that switch may solve both problems the source of this switch I'm not sure though. Which is my main question.

Just unplug it then. It won't do anything. I wouldn't think that is your problem though. When that thing isn't seating correctly your alarm randomly goes off. I haven't had one for quite a few years. I never had a problem starting with it working, randomly working, or out.

Will probly unplug it and see if I have anymore issues. I'm curious if that switch could cause the transponder to act up. What gets the car started is usally messin with the key fob a few times and then it will let me start the car

I've had somewhat of the same issue. I thought it was the hood alarm switch (or mushroom switch) as well, but it still has issues.

My problem comes from my remote start. Every now and then it will start and cut out immediatly with the error code being that thrown that is the "theft detected." I have never had a problem with it started when I get in the car and start it up with my key fob in the ignition though.

pats issue help asap

Ok so back when i had this problem. I unplugged the mushroom and had no problems till yesterday i was left stranded twice yesterday and again today. Im about ready to gas and match it.

Back when i worked at ford last summer it has the ignition transponder code.

My question is there a module i can unplug to disable pats. If not what are my options on fixing it. Can i buy a complete switch from the parts store and replace it or will it need programmed to....any help would be great. Im about ready to send it to the nearest graveyard i dont care how much ive put into it.
