I'm reaching out to you guys because I have seen so many conflicting conversations about air intakes for these cars. I have a 2011 with the performance package and livernois stage 4+ I have looked at k&n air raid and now I see this other "carbon kit" MDesign makes. Which one should I go with as far as hearing the blowoff and turbos a little more and gaining some power.....what do you guys recommend!!???

Blowoff - VTA mod
Turbo sound - K&N, maybe a little with Airaid/MDesign
Power - MDesign and modded Airaid

MDesigns looks awesome and works well, Airaid works well too, just need to have them send you a tall rubber seal or go to the hardware store and get foam pipe insulation to help seal the airbox around the hood better. As for hearing the turbos, I still barely here them, even with all my mods. VTA blow off mod is very easy to do, and you do here the woosh when you back off the throttle. Hope this helps. I have LME 4X, ( you need this ), 3bar, LME DP's, 160 tstat.

I actually have some pretty crazy news about this intake debate. My car has been with Livernois Motorsports for the past month having quite a bit of work done. In the process of my install, they noticed I had the MDesign intake on my car. They then ran my car on the dyno and it read 377 WHP, and they asked me if I minded if they took the Mdesign off and put on their Windstorm intake. I told them to go ahead and see what happens. They took about 20-30 minutes to remove my intake, and then placed their Windstorm intake on and ran the car on the dyno again (no other changes were made) Well let's just say the results were staggering..... new WHP was 395, and Wheel TQ went up 16 ft lb. HUGE difference by just changing out the intakes. They ran the Windstorm with the hood up, as well as the Mdesign. They had a fan blowing on the front nose to simulate air being pushed through. #'s don't lie. I will post up a picture of the dyno sheet within the hour. Here is a link to the intake. http://www.livernoismotorsports.com...is-Motorsports-Windstorm-Cold-Air-Intake.html

just for the record, my vehicle is a 2011 SHO non PP with LME custom Meth Tune, LME Catless DP, Corsa Catback, ALKY control Methanol Injection Kit, 3 bar Map Sensor, 160 degree Thermostat, new plugs gapped at .028, H&R Lowering Springs, LME Windstorm Intake, and the VTA mod.

Breaking news...thanks for the share. Maybe there's something at play with the small filter size and enclosure?

The wheel TQ didn't change as much as I remember in our discussion. But the power def did increase on the WHP side

Interesting! Thanks for putting this up! Any chance of getting dyno numbers with the hood closed?

The car is already on a trailer headed back to me here in TN, or else I would. With the hood closed, I would only guess the Windstorm intake would only get better due to it not sucking in "hot" air.

MAN! I am SO excited to see that thing back in my garage! I have been without her for an entire month.... I am kinda nervous to get back behind the wheel.... I was so used to it before I sent it up there, that it always felt slow, but at the same time was freaking people out that I took for a spirited test drive. AND NOW I am getting it back with a ton more HP and TQ..... They are delivering it to my work tomorrow evening around 3-5PM.

Get yourself readjusted before you take it out on the Tail of the Dragon ;)

HAH! I may be able to hold off for a little bit..... but I haven't been since my car just had intake, and tune..... I'm dying to go back now that it has the springs, and all the other goodies! Next nice day, I'll probably head up there and lay a hurting on some people up there in my "Dad" car

Wish I saw this before I went and made the order on the mdesign intake lol. I have already ordered it and it should be on its way next week, granted the windstorm is an improvement how did you like the mdesign? Did you notice a little throttle response gain with it, and my biggest question to you is with the m design one you had on the car are the turbos/ blow off a little more audible than the stock air box? Thank you for your help :)

My guess would be not, the open air filters make a bit of turbo noise.
