Quick quesiton, this is my second time replacing the ABS module (first time I replaced the whole thing and ABS didn't work at all.. so I think I just got a faulty module, but this time I have it all but just replacing circuit board part).

Would air inside the ABS module itself cause it to whack out and give false speed readings to the ECU and cause it to show the symptoms of a faulty ABS module?

Just wondering just in case this module doesn't seem to work right either.

Just for background- I have been getting the typical speedometer to get crazy every soo often (like once or twice in a couple months).

Also, I usually get ABS to kick on in the front wheels for no reason when going at slow speeds and coming to a stop. (maybe once a week).

Thanks for any input.

Check the tone rings on the axles, you'll find them to be cracked or missing a tooth. This will give you unwanted low speed abs activation and possiblty mess with your speedo also. Your abs module is probably ok. If there was air in the system the pedal would be mushy.

Well, I'm trying to figure out if air in the ABS module would cause this to happen.

I have the ABS module already off now, but I was just wondering before.

The status of the hydraulic system and if its even connected should not influence the speedo. One dead wheel won't influence your speedo reading either as it cna cal it using the 3 good wheels. your problem almost has to be the module.

Well, we'll see if this fixes the problem. The old computer looked flawless, so I don't know.

They always look fine - not smoked or anything.

I believe one user here on the form found one of the hair fine wires from the connector to the module broken, and they are too fine to have much success at a repair attempt.

The "hair" wires would be a simple fix with any soldering iron.. I wish that was my problem. I just wish it could have been that or one of the capacitors, such an easy fix.

I consider myself a semi skilled hack with a soldering station and I've never had good luck repairing the fine wires that connect a PCB to it's surrounding, unless I cna get a good attachment point to run heavier wire to the board. I'm guessing those wires are about 40AWG. I have no heartburn soldering down to 32, 34, or maybe even 36 AWG but much beyond that they break way too easy by the time you put engouh pressure on them to even think about heating them. Even Hot air pencils are hard to try with as the hot air blows the wire around so much.
