I was plyaing with the engine this weekend and the green tube connecting to the AIB valve broke in half.. dunno why. so i took a red tube that comes with WD-40 for spraying and inserted it on either end and taped it up.. the air flow is a little restricted but not cut off.. anyone know what that green tube does?? i assume a sensor of somesort monitoring the AIB valve.

The green tube actuates the EGR valve... I guess your car is running OK if the CE light isn't on.

You can get some silicone tubing and sort of make a "splint" for it by putting a 2" long piece of it between the broken sections and put a zip tie on each side to keep it from leaking.

guess i meant the egr not the aib.. sorry.. but it probably only affects the exhaust gases etc in some way and wouldnt let the engine run lean or anything bad ya think?? hmm.. it does have air flow though at least, not the greatest..

If your EGR wern't working, you would get a code and your SHO would have some drivability problems. I guess you have enough vaccume to actuate the valve so you're OK.

Those plastic vacuum lines to the EGR valve and manifold are quite brittle, eh? I always move them out of harm's way when removing the intake manifold. You can repair the break by finding the proper sized rubber tubing that the plastic lines fits tightly into. Just cut a 2" (or less) length of rubber tubing and insert the plastic line into each end.
