Ok I'm not sure if I'm just really tired( which is am) it if I'm having a jessica simpson " I KNOW it's tuna but it says chicken if the sea" moment but when I was reading in the owner's manual on checking transmission fluid out says get it to operating temp, run it through the gears and check it, which means the air filter box has to come out and it says plain as day do not run car with this part off?!? So how is that possible? I'll post Pic of it in a min when I get back home...

If you're just doing a drain and fill just measure what you take out and put that back in. If you're just checking get it to operating temp then pull the air box and check the dipstick

It won't hurt to idle the engine with the air filter housing removed while you check the transmission fluid. Leave the IAT sensor connected so you don't set any codes.
