I bought a used 2013 Sho, and I can’t seem to stop myself from accidentally bright flashing when turning right. I’m not sure if it’s potentially a bad turn switch or what. Everything works but maybe I’m just not used to it, my guess is it’s possibly worn, but figured I’d ask if anyone has had this experience.

Same issue. The arm feels stiff and bumps the brights in mine. It is not just you. But after time, I stopped doing it. Thought I was the only one.

Ah ok, thanks for that info! I’ve noticed if I use the stalk vs the end piece I have less issue, but was not sure if it was a natural event or not.

My issue is the wipers, not the high beams.
Coming from decades of owning Mazda, Toyota and Nissan and the SHO being my first NA vehicle, I hate having the wiper switch integrated to the turn signal. I like it more on the right of the steering wheel.
I constantly turn the wipers on when turning right. I taught myself to not push the lever up/down from the end but after the rotating thingy on the end of it. I wish the wiper switch offered a little more resistance.

I used to do that too.

You just gotta be gentle with the lever. Just push it gently up and down, then you won't have problems. Dont "slap" the lever up and down like a lot of people do.

It just seems to go easily into brights position easier than other vehicles, not a full engage just enough to flick the brights for a half a second. I’ve had a lot better luck using the selector stick closer to the wheel vs the very end piece. It could be worn but I wondered if it was just different figured I’d see what others have experienced before possibly replacing it.

My Ranger has the same problem sometimes. It seems to vary for some reason. Some days I can't touch the stalk upwards without getting the brights on, other times it works fine. I think the multifunction switch is going bad.

I hit the brights too from time to time on turns. I really hate the hard click to get the signal full on instead of the three blinks. ‘13 SHO I drove didn’t have that, ‘14 MKS did, and ‘15 Edge does not.

Strange, I thought it was solely a ‘14 model year thing.

And I agree, wipers should be a switch on the dash, and they should bring back the floorboard foot button for brights. “It just makes common sense.”

I figured I’d check back in to confirm the multifunction switch was worn. The replacement took care of the issue. The dealer wanted to replace the steering column module but I was unconvinced that was the issue. New switch feels buttery smooth.
