Ok. i bought a sho on thursday that has a bad ac system.. slow leak etc. well, i went to charge it and the compressor wouldn't even turn on. i asked the guy i bought it from and i coudnt understand him too well so i thought id come here. he said something about a switch on the regulator... adn using a paper clip to bridge it.. IDK, im kind of confused on this matter.

I know its possible. When I got my SHO someone did it to mine. Wish I was paying more attention. I was not so SHO savvy then.

It's the low pressure switch. On the MTX, it's on top of the accumulator, which is a round cylinder next to the radiator on the battery side of the engine compartment.
It stops the compressor clutch from engaging if there is not enough pressure in the system. You simply unplug the connector, and jump it with a wire or paper clip.
This is NOT a good thing to do if you do not have pressure and oil in the system. It will fry the compressor fast.
I would only jump it for a second to make sure that the switch is the actual cause for the compressor not engaging.

You normally need to fill the system with the compressor running. That is the purpose of the paper clip. If the compressor is good, when it starts the suction pressure will be pulled down and the freon will start going into the system.

I have only done this with a gauge set, high and low pressure readings. I would not try it with without gauges as you don't have any data about what's happening.
