Sometimes my AC blows cold, sometimes it blows hot, and sometimes it starts blowing cold and then turns hot? Is the problem in my Temp Control panel? I have the soft button on my 92 MTX 3.0 and have considered getting a hard button control off of ebay. Also what year did they switch to the the R132 from ther R12?

Thanks,
Gregor

Try removing the, smaller of the two, air gap shims on the compressor clutch hat assem. This will most of the time fix the issue. If not you will probably have to replace the clutch assem. Also, R134 started coming in around mid to late 93 vehicles.

If you are like my car someone had already pulled one of the shims and the clutch was pretty much SHOT. I replaced the clutch with the compressor on the car, and let me say you think the job will be not too bad until you try and get the snap ring that holds the field coil off and back onto the new coil. That was a royal PITA. I had to massage my snap ring plyers to a 90 degree tool with about 1.5" of reach. after getting the snap ring back on for the field coil the rest is a piece of cake!
