Hi Guys,
Need a little help.. I apparently have a low side leak on my compressor to accumulator hose...
Wonderful factory crimp is leaking...

From rod, I was quoted almost 200 for this hose, as they only sell it from Compressor to evap core.

Anyone have a suggestion on how to repair/replace this hose? I haven't looked at the compressor yet, but I assume it will be the usual pain to remove the hose from it..
tips?

Removing the hose will easier than it seems. I don't have any magical shortcuts for you, but it won't be too bad.

As far as the hose goes, maybe you can take it to Napa and they can make you one. I don't know if all Napa stores make hoses, but mine does.

Good luck.

Yeah, I was giving it a looksee on my parts car and it looks like 4 bolts on the compressor and 2 o'rings to remove the whole cable (and probably 4 bloody knuckles)...

My Napa doesn't rebuild the hoses unless the hose is not available to buy.. I think they don't do a good job because they said they got too many complaints of leaks... DOH!

I am searching around and found some of the online ford places sell the e9dz-19c836c, which my local dealer quoted me 192 on , for as low as 132...
This is >supposed< to be the whole hose from compressor to firewall.

Can anyone confirm this? I would hate to order this part and find out it isn't the whole thing, but just from the accumulator to the firewall, which isn't leaking...
thanks

There are some companies that remanafacture and recrimp all types of hoses including a/c lines. Over here we have Marshall Equipment that specializes in many types of hose fittings. I have brought in my leaking a/c pipes for new fittings to be spliced in that will hold freon. Check around for these places because it can be done.

The hose assembly from the compressor to the firewall is actually TWO separate hoses.

The first is the "Suction Manifold and Tube Assy" with a base part # of 19E636. It runs from the lower compressor port and connects into the next hose via a quick connect coupler. The second is the "Accumulator and Hose Assy" base part number 19C836. It runs from the coupler, includes the accumulator can, then runs to the upper evaporator connection at the firewall.

Both hoses are available through Advance Auto Parts or O'Reilly's (and more)and are marketed under brand names such as Murray's, Four Seasons, and Factory Air (all are brands owned by SMP). They are quite expensive, though.

Yeah, my shop manual says the same thing, but the problems is that my FORD dealer doesn't recongize teh Manifold & tube assy part.. You got a ford part number for that ? The ford part number I posted in my second email >appears< to be for the whole schebang.. but I can't seem to confirm that, no pictures.
I looked at the alternate brands, and without pictures, I can't tell.. Most look like they are for a SLO not a SHO...

We have a place in Portland that can rebuild/test the hose off my parts car.. I guess I can try it. Wish there was an easy way to switch to full metal lines and hardware instead of these stupid 'o-leak' rings.

Base part numbers are given above. Give those to the Ford parts guy and he can provide the correct prefix and suffix for your application.

Prefixes are most likely E9DZ. Suffix may vary due to revision level.

MARK IN PDX,

Here are a couple of thoughts for you.

Yes, you can get the crimp connection and the hose replaced, with the proper high pressure hose and connection, but that will not replace the desicant or remove all the crap trapped in the filter after 14 years of service!

Consider replacing the accumulater/dryer line. The manifold can be repaired if necessary, and you can find a business with the proper tools to replace the crimped on clamps.

If your that far into this A/C project consider converting to R-134a. rangerj
