ac compressor

so my ac compressor seized up last night and shredded the belt. is it possible to just take it out and run my belt to just the alternator? does anyone have an idler pulley i can replace it with or can i just remove it all together? thanks

if it is the compressor that seized and not the compressor pulley bearing, you can just remove the electrical connector to the compressor and it will run fine 'cause the compressor will never kick on. if the pulley bearing is shot, then that won't work.

there is a compressor delete idler that you can find on occasion that will allow you to run w/o the compressor being there.

Do local parts stores have the delete? The bearing is shot and I gotta get this thing fixed today

On my 91. I have no A/C pulley.
I run a shorter belt. Gates # KO60420

there is a compressor delete idler that you can find on occasion that will allow you to run w/o the compressor being there.

That delete is crap. I would not use it.

If you need to pull the compressor you need to leave the housing as it is a structural member.

what belt to run to bypass compressor on my 1994 3.2

Compresser or pullet seized.. i need quick fix til i figure out what else is wrong with the ac system.. its never got cold for over a month even after new compressor now its seized..

when the compressor locks up, it generally throws a bunch of metal shavings into the lines, and they can plug up the expansion valve (orifice) so that the refrigerant does not flow properly. that will often cause a new compressor to fail prematurely. that is why most shops will insist on replacing all lines when they replace the compressor.

the other thing that leads to premature compressor failure is lack of oil in the new compressor.
