I'm getting ready to tear into a 60k and ac service also. In case the compressor/and or ac clutch as well as the accum./dryer- is/are shot- does anyone have experience with aftermarket parts or are these dealer only items?

the accumulator u can get at regular parts houses...i got mine from autozone(in stock actually) for 87 bucks if i remember right.
It is one piece with the line to the evap., so its kinda a pain to get out.

im getting a used a/c compressor but i've seen some on ebay new for about 150-200. I havnt found any parts houses that can get it new though.

Yeah I was thinking if not new then reman. Just wondering if they're out there and if the savings justify reman. over new oem.

As far as the compressor goes, I know last year when a mechanic thought my comp locked up, we were able to find a rebuilt one at Ford for $250. Might want to check to see if the local dealer might have one. Fortunately, a 'better' mechanic determined the clutch was fried. Much cheaper!
