ABS tone ring

Im down to buying the last part i need to make my 3.2 swapped mtx. I need a passenger side cv axle because my ABS ring was cracked and fell off. I searched and found you can buy new abs rings but how do you go about intalling them? or is it even worth it. just trying to save 50-80 bucks. thanks

Heat it up and it will slide it on . Axle for 50$ how much is the ring . I have one on some spare axles laying arund

As stated you can heat it up to get it on easier but it's not necessary if you don't want to. Just make sure it is on even and your good to go.

I read somewhere that heating it up can effect its magnetic properties... But im unaware if our abs system is completly mechanical or if it works magneticly. im not sure if this is true or false.

I would imagine you will have problems on the other end of said axle if you try to stick it in there with that boot that is probally torn? lol How else do you still have the cup attached to the intermediate shaft... lol Might just wanna get a new one..

Just clean the axle really good with a brown disc than tap it on with a rubber hammer or a brass punch.

I have never needed to use heat.

Actually, at high temperatures, steel (and other metals) completely lose their magnetic properties. But they rapidly come back when they begin to cool down. Go heat a piece of rebar until it is red hot and try to stick a magnet to it. Wont happen. Research "Curie Temperature" :wave:
