The actual sensor is inserted into the hub and is very close to the notched sensor ring and has a wire attached to it. The sensor is a proximity sensor that detects metal and sees the gap on the sensor ring.

a few suggestions on where to look for possible causes of the light:

1) the wiring harness that plugs into a relay box right next to the ABS motor. notorious to rub a hole thru the shielded wiring.

2) the ground wire attached to the core support.

you could go to autozone and have them scan the ABS module for free? or guess whichever you choose.

there are 2 OBD connectors under the hood one is for engine and trans, the other is for ABS it has a red cap on it (if the cap is still there)
