there is a wire that comes through the fender on both front wheels. Well while performing my front 60k, I noticed the one on the passenger side was cut. I looked at the driver side, cut too. I dont see where anything could connect to the brake system, i.e. open plugs,connectors/harnesses, etc. However, I know they are for something and I think its for the brakes, that is why I posted it here. What are these things, what are they for and why the **** are they cut ????!!!?

Are you talking about your wheel speed sensor wires? Do you still have ABS? Did you ever do a 96 upgrade and swap the knuckles?

oh, speed sensors, ok. No, I didnt do the upgrade, I have ABS, I dont know if it works or not, I just got the car and havent had it running to check it out. Are those part of the ABS system ? What do they connect to and for what reason do you think the previous owner disconnected them ?

What does the wire look like? There is a sensor in the steering knuckle. The sprocket or gear looking thing on the axel rotates through it. The sensor picks up the magnetic field of the teeth and senses the speed of the wheel.

Is there a sensor and cut wire on the steering knuckle?

Where does the other end of the cut wire go?

When you put the key in the on position, without starting the car, does the amber "Antilock Brake" light go on, as well as the red "Brake" light? If not, then the bulbs may be burnt out, or have been removed or disconnected.

Note: 89s do not have ABS. rangerj

yeah, the wire goes up under the hood, attaches to a ground strap right near the battery and it looks like it meets a harness that goes across the front of the car. I dont see a sensor on the knuckle. The wire is one thick wire and it just dangles. I am in san diego right now, but when I get home I will see if the lights all light up. Thanks for any feedback !
