For lack of any other way to describe it, seemlessly for no reason my 93 MTX SHO ingages in anti-locking. I'll be driving down the road and it will start vibrating  . (also great anti theft device!! scares the sh*t out of unsuspecting drivers). I tap the brake pedal a couple of times to stop it. It's been doing this for about a year now and it only does it occasionaly( 2-3 times a wk). I guess that depends on your definition of occasional. Within the last year I've also done two complete brake jobs on the car. To my suprise prior to the first brake job I was driving around for quite some time with a locked rear caliper  . Missed the bad brake lines first time around :oogle: , so needless to say I drove around for another 3 mos w/locked caliper  (Please keep in mind it was also the dead of winter) So last brake job I put on it; new rotors, new pads, all 4 re man-calipers, new E-merge brake cable, 2 new rear brake lines(reason 4 locked caliper), inertia switch, and master cylinder. Bled the system of course. Could the ABS computer be shot? Sensors? Oh one more thing brake lite does NOT come on when this occurs. I'm pretty sure it started doing it after the first brake job.

Hmm no idea. Fortunately my '89 pre-dates ABS :thumb:

I tried a quick search, but didn't come up with anything definitive. It may take some time, but I'm sure if you perform a thorough search (function, one of the 'forums greater resources) you'd find this has happened to someone before.

Good luck!

*Thinking with the "parts" cars you have there :naughty: , try swapping out another ABS computer, see if that does the trick*

Definitely on the agenda. Now that I've been driving the car more lately I noticed that it does it alot. Could the enertia switch (proportioning valve?) have something to do with it? I think that (enertia sw) just has to do with the wheels not locking up when you take a turn? Rear brakefluid gate keeper of sorts? Where are the other sensors? Are they the gear looking things on the hubs?

This could be a issue with cracked ABS rings or dirty or worn out sensors. It won't have anything to do with the proportioning valve. Look over the sensor rings for rust or cracks, and look at the sensors for any sort of damage. Dose the ABS light come on when you first turn the key on? If you really need to drive the car until you get this fixed you could always pull the fuse for the ABS system.

Im with Ishodu i had the same problem with my 93 LX taurus and i found that the right front Ring was craked. I thank that you can only get this part from ford and i thank that i payed about $20 for one ring. If you are going to take it to a shop to do this then it might be cheaper to buy a new CV shaft if it is one of the rings on the front. Witch if it is one of the rings then it will more then likly be one of the front ones.

Exactly which fuse # would that be? Any suggestions for replacement stuts/springs?SHO seems to be droopy in her *** end (saggy diaper). I want the car to raise up again and ride a little better. I'm not into the lowering thing. <$$$

I have the same problem with my 95 ATX.....scary at first but doesnt hurt...yet. I inspected my front ring and saw that there was a crack in it that spanned the equivalent of a tooth, but it has been like that since I bought the car.....8 years ago. Problem only surfaced within the last 2 years. Never checked anything else as the problem has been intermittant at best.
