Post a scan and we'll call it a tie. ;)
Your partly right. My Owners Guide does not list the manual transaxle capacity in quarts. But the guide did say the manual transaxle capacity was 6.2 pints. So, 6.2 US pints = 3.1 US quarts. I guess the Owners Guide and Ford Factory Service Manual are 0.1 pints off.

Wait... This is weird. My 91 Owners Guide lists the capacity for my manual transaxle as 6.2 pints. My 94 Owners Guide lists the manual transaxle capacity as 6.1 quarts. Hmm....

6.1 quarts is a blantant misprint (roughly 2 times the proper amount). Sounds like Ford publishing had a snafu with that one...

after a complete rebuild mine took 2.5 Qt's. After pulling the drain plug and refilling it was just under 2 Qt's.

You have already put a bunch of work into this car and now you want to sell it. I did the same thing with my first one, and now I have two different SHOs and wish I never sold the first one. All the work you've put into this one you'll be doing all over again to another one someday. So maybe you should keep it?

Wow! I can't believe that you are getting this upset over a cv shaft. That is basic FWD mantainance. Patience grasshopper. If you don't have the "zen" to do this, you are in a world of hurt when it comes to a 60K service or clutch/tranny R&R. Walk away and take a deep breath. I know you can do it. I have faith! Everyone has to start somewhere. NONE of us were born mechanics! We all had to learn.

One of the biggest accomplishments you will have is finishing this project. There is no better feeling than crying/swearing/throwing tools, etc... only to finish the job and go for that first drive in the car. The smile is priceless!

YOU CAN DO IT!!!:)

FYI: I can change an axle in about 12 minutes. This is because I have done it a hundred times. I used to change them inbetween rounds at the draggs when I would break them.:laugh_ti:

umm its not that i dont like doing work to the car its that i have put 4 grand into it and i need to get out of it before it bankrupts me. i have allready put a tranny in by myself, welded pins, clutch, subframe bushings, endlinks and so much other stuff. its time to move on untill i can make a little more money to maintain a sho the right way... face it... its a 15 year old taurus with that much power... shit is going to brake. i need a lower milage sho.

They took 3.1 qts. last I heard!

Going from faulty memory, I recall 3.2 quarts. Only putting in 3.1 will spell DISASTER!! ;)

I use my old useless-for-brakes vacuum bleeder to suck out the fluid from the fill hole. I get out near 3 qts, then I add 3 quarts. Sometimes it overflow, sometimes not. Good enough for me.

You don't want a car payment. Car payment means less money for performance parts, or things that are not car related. Maybe you should just sell the SHO if thats what you want and work on one of your other cars. Make that Aurora fast or something. Fix the cam spun v8 sho. I know you've got other rides.

o btw i work 30 hours a week. i can make car payment....
I work 40 hours a week and get paid more than you. I'll take not having a car payment for awhile... or having to pay for full coverage on a financed vehicle, and as a 22 year old I'd have better rates than you.
