My question is...does anyone know the exact way
the A.T.C temp sensor functions? It is located in the metal coolant tube that runs between the hose off the heater core and the block? By function I mean is it normally closed or open when cold or hot? and which position (closed or open)tells the A.T.C. system to allow the blower motor to work?
My problem stems form the tube being rotted and
leaking and worst of all it is now obsolete from Ford. I'm hoping to just use rubber hose to replace it for now untill I can search for a new tube somewhere in the country, unless someone out there knows where I can get this tube. I think this is the correct part # E9DZ-18B402-A. frown

The Temperature Control Lockout Valve/Switch is normally closed. Once engine operation reaches 120°F and above, the switch then opens and allows the blower to operate.

Thanks for the info "Shoman94" I thank you for your time. I have found out that the correct part number for the tube I need is FODZ-18D376-A.
It is still listed as obsolete from Ford. If any one has a suggestion as to who-or-how I might find this part, please reply. Thanks again and
Happy "SHO'n" to all !!

Just for the record, this switch is referred to by Ford as the cold engine lockout switch.

First things first !! I really appreciate all of you taking time to help me.
SHOman94, the part number you gave me F1OY-18D376-A should be for a 90/91 Lincoln 3.8L Continental.(If my years behind a Ford/Lincoln parts counter still serves me)Is this part number a direct replacement -or- an acceptable substitution? Because I located one using www.partsvoice.com (multi brand OEM parts locator)in Nebraska.
N3FOL, thanks for the suggestion, but Green Sales
did not have any.
I'm going to have my Ford dealer contact "buddy" check to see if he can still order the F1OY-A tube from Ford or not.
Thanks again to all. thumbs_u
