A simple question (that I can't find the answer to...)

My daughter gets her license in 6 months (God help us all), which means she will be inheriting my DD. So, I will be in the market for a new-to-me ride. I drive 70+ miles every day for my commute, about 50/50 surface streets and highway - on top of that, my kids both play travel sports so I tend to pack on the miles. Last year, I racked up 28K in 10 months...

I've started to put a "possibles" list together, and the SHO/MKS is on it. The big question is whether any of the years/models have a pass-through to the trunk. Both of my kids play hockey, and hockey sticks don't bend - this tends to narrow the vehicle choices to minivan or SUV.

From what I've found online, it looks like the SHO has folding rear seats - I'd prefer to not give up a passenger spot but it is at least a possibility. I've also read that the MKS (at least in some years) had a "ski passthrough" but I've not been able to confirm that anywhere. Can anyone confirm the fold/passthrough options on these vehicles?

Many thanks!

no wonder that thing goes so fast with those rocket boosters in the trunk!

yes, the MKS does have the ski pass-through from the trunk. I don't recall offhand if the rear seats fold completely down or not...

Your right, Rockets make much more since, I thought the where Jets, I wonder if he uses Flux Capacitor or Dilithium Crystals for power and where he mounted them. - I think all the SHO's back seats fold down, I know mine do. Well there supposed to I have never folded mine down, I have never had a hockey stick myself but I think it would fit in the trunk sideways its a pretty big trunk. I was considering running a little shine in mine for a little extra cash, think I can our run the revenue man. LOL Have a great day All.

I have a '12 MKS and the rear seats do not fold done like a Taurus does. There's a tiny hole where the armrest is and it's not good for much. The trunk themselves are pretty freaking large with the exception that the opening isn't very big. My wife's '10 Milan could swallow bigger things than my MKS ever could.

Load the bags up, cruise down to the dealership and see how they'll fit.

I can fit my hockey sticks in the trunk beneath my gear bag, if I lay them in diagonally. If you are dealing with youth-size sticks, you should not have any issues at all. The trunk on these cars is quite large. But in my '14 the seat s also fold forward maybe 80% of the way towards flat, for what that may be worth. I have only folded them down once, when transporting a couple 8-foot lengths of door casing.

2013+ MKS has a larger trunk opening.

We got a 65" LG tv in the trunk of my 2011 SHO, passed through to the back seat, granted the trunk lid wouldn't close so I took it easy getting it home lol.
