After a month of moving the 90 SHO for parking reasons, and experiencing single digit temps (Celsius) and torrential rains, the car failed to start.
It rolled over badly, with not even an attempt to fire. Looking back, the battery was low and the car was rainsoaked and cold.
Charged the battery, eventually put starter fluid in the intake, but every start event was a failure.
I narrowed it down to timing belt slip and all kinds of expensive electrical causes, since the starter fluid had failed to change even how it rolled-over.
After 3 days of having an extension cord taped on the sidewalk, trying the starter, I swapped the battery charger for a heater with a fan that I aimed directly at the intake. And I closed the hood. This was total desperation. The car has always been super easy to start and I can honestly say I had no idea how the starter sounded until this happened.
After close to a day, hit the starter with the gas pedal on the floor and it started after a 5 second roll-over.
Don't throw parts at a car until you have tried all the easy stuff.
