Really, any Dexron 3/Mercon fluid is fine. Some people prefer certain brands and formulations (organic, synthetic, or a blend), seems like GM Synchromesh was the favorite for a while, before that it was Mobil 1 ATF or a witches brew of Trick Shift and some other ATF.

Crank seal can only be fixed by replacing the crank seal. It is most likely leaking between the crank and the seal, and not the oil pump and the seal. RTV or anything else isn't going to work unless you don't plan on running the motor afterwards, since the crank rotation will quickly destroy whatever sealant you put on there. Plus, just to put RTV on the seal, you'll already have done 98% of the work to replace the $7 part!
