I need your help!

I should have heeded your advice that all parts for 89 SHO start with E9DZ and shouldn't have been so cavalier about your comment.

So you owe me one of these!: :slap:

I ordered parts from RockAuto using Motorcraft numbers and I orderd the wrong parts and have to return them.

Your diagram helped. Can you confirm/answer the following:

Suction Line is comprised of two parts: E9DZ-19C836 and E9DZ-19E636.

I can't find E9DZ-19E636 at 4s.com, but I can reuse the existing assembly that goes from the accumulator to the compressor suction.

4s gives their part number: 55620 for E9DZ-19C836. Can you confirm?

Discharge line is comprised of two parts: E9DZ-19E574 and E9DZ-19972.

I can't find E9DZ-19E574 at 4s.com, but again I can reuse the existing assembly that connects the compressor discharge to E9DZ-19972.

4s.com gives their part number: 55920 for E9DZ-19972. Can you confirm?

Liquid line is E9DZ-19835. Orifice is built in.

I can't find this part at 4s.com. You stated that you have used their liquid line. Can you advise if they have this line for the '89 SHO and the part number?

How do you order from 4s.com? I can't find a phone number and their doesn't appear to be an online ordering system.

I obtained sealing washers for the compressor suction and discharge manifold from a A/C shop. They gave me green O-rings that fit, but the original washers are red and RECTANGULAR. The groove the washers fit in are also rectangular. The shop said they always use O-rings for Ford compressors.

Ford dealership did not have washers in stock but could order them. I don't know if the replacement washers from Ford will be red or green. It seems like they should be green for R-134a refrigerant.

Finally, where do you get these drawings exploded parts of SHO systems?!!!

Thanks. :hail:

A few responses that don't require research.

How do you order from 4s.com?

You don't. They supply most of the national retail chains under brand names such as Murray, Four Seasons, Factory Aire, and maybe more, including private label names. The part numbers usually tell the tale.

Parts guys at the Ford store. While they're looking up whatever I've asked for, I just ask them if they'll print out the diagram. They always do (Good guys!). I take it home and squirrel it away (usually).

The proper size green o-ring will work if you get the correct diameter. Don't ask me what that is... The red ones start out as round, they get moulded to the square groove.

Just remember, that I specifically said "Parts that are EXCLUSIVE to the 89 SHO will begin with E9DZ". If it happend to be used on other vehicles, it may have been issued a different prefix.

Ill try to check the other stuff later.

Thanks. I found liquid line at 4s.com.

Liquid Line: Ford OEM: E9DZ-19835-A (by 4s); Their part number: 55722.

Also for clarification for Ford OEM numbers listed at 4s.

Suction Line: Their part number 55620 corresponds to several Ford OEM part numbers listed by them: E90Z-19C836-B, E90Z-19C836-C, E9DZ-19C826-C.

Discharge Line: Their part number 55920 corresponds to only one Ford OEM part number listed by them: F0DZ-19972-B. They do not list a Ford OEM part number starting with E9DZ with 19972 in the part number.

I used a 55613 liquid line since it was in stock and only $26.

The rest of the stuff, I'll see if I can dig something up. Might take me awile, though..

FWIW, 4S is only going to make and sell the parts that have sufficient replacement volume to make it worthwhile. Since there are several lines that are rarely, if ever replaced, they didn't bother.

You'll need 55620, 55920, and either 55613 or 55722. I don't know what the difference in the two liquid lines is, perhaps the o-tube diameter. E-mail them and see if they'll tell you, perhaps.

The compressor suction (E9DZ19E636A) and discharge (with muffler) (E9DZ-19E574-A/Motorcraft YF1572) lines do not appear to be available aftermarket. Chances are, Ford discontinued them 5-10 years ago so the only place you might find them is via Partsvoice or perhaps Green Sales, or in in a dealer's stock somewhere.

Good luck. If you need anything else, let me know.

Thanks. I emailed 4s and they confirmed the part numbers as 55620, 55920, and 55722.

I am going to reuse the compressor suction and discharge lines as I have taken them off and inspected them. They look fine.

One final problem, I cannot get the disconnect tool to fit either ends of the liquid line spring lock cages. The 1/2" tool (blue) is slightly too big, the 3/8" is much too small. 1/2" is 12.7 mm, so it seems likely that 12mm will fit. But that doesn't make sense since all the lines are Imperial size and not metric. I have never even seen metric disconnect tools.

I am going to buy another 1/2" tool and carelfully shave it down in diameter until it fits into the cage.

Did you have any trouble removing your liquid line??

Thanks. :thumb:
