On my old V8 this was normal. What wasn't normal was the clutch wouldn't engage at anything but a low idle speed. It would also ice up after an hour or so of operation. I believe I had even put a new compressor on it but it was still using the original clutch and coil and I believe the washer was removed. I got rid of that car 15 years ago so my memory is a bit foggy.

I took it to a place that does a/c work on vehicles for YEARS and they advised me that they have stopped putting new a/c compressors onto vehicles. I'm like freaking butt munch!!! He did look at see that there is an issue with the shims, but, still will not touch my SHO.

I called one of my clients, and, he will charge me $150 to install the new a/c compressor. Now, I just have to wait for it to arrive at my store.

Personnally, I'd go with the SHIM fix. But that's just based on my experience that the aftermarket units simply will not last.
Plus it can be done without removal of the unit. Just 1 nut even though that space is tight.

For sure. No idea why you wouldn't go this route.

Dude.

Please.

Are you Trolling YOURSELF???

Take the nut off the center of the #$&%#!! pulley and take out the &*#^@$%$ SHIM ! ! !

You don't even need to take the belt off.

Look at the "Joined" dates of the members offering you advice - HUNDRED years of experience on this forum alone. Clearly, we are all idiots...

I’m right handed, but, I can’t do much with my body due to the wreck. The whole right side of my body is all torn up on the inside with all the surgeries that I’ve had.

Please - Listen, and take the clutch apart and remove that little shim. All it will cost is time.

BUT - If you want to buy and install a new clutch, that will fix your problem too for a lot more money.
This one finger makes a lot of things difficult for me to do things. At my store, I can’t change batteries due that, and other issues in my body. Also, I’ve TWO hernia surgeries not too long ago. THAT, itself, makes me not want to try too hard from doing certain things.

If I keep my blower set there, my a/c works quite well. If I have it set to blow from the top only, then, it doesn’t blow cold air out on the expressway.

I found that out driving it to the Corpus Christi area. Hit the gas pedal hard, get ready for hot air to blow either way.

I'm having a new a/c compressor installed into my SHO early this morning. I just hope this solves the issue with my sedan.
