'99 SHO - hesitation/stall on acceleration

Just got car running after sitting for long time. Idles fine. Gentle, slight press on the gas pedal makes the car move but then it stalls for 2-3 seconds, RPMS drop to below idle, then RPMS return to normal. Runs Ok at highway speed, holds 60 mph but not sure if it hesitates when accelerating.

Is there a fuel pressure regulator? I need to find a better adapter for my fuel pressure gauge as i can't seem to get a tight connection at the manifold port.

on a 02 taurus i had this problem and the maf was dirty. easy fix. maf cleaner and about 30 seconds it ran .
only difference was at highway speeds and WOT it would kick and butt

And just how would the MAF make the fuel pressure drop to 5 psi ?
