I've had the SHO for about 2 years, first big problem with it. Put the key in, starter turns as usual, but the engine will not kick. I just replaced the battery for the same problem, it seems to start about half the time. When it doesn't start, I can't get it to start no matter how many times I try. I'm having it towed as I type. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Matt

I had this happen to me on my 97 SHO, my battery was good, the starter would crank, but it wouldn't turn over and start. It actually happened to me in a parking lot without any warning at all.

It ended up being my crank sensor died. It's a $20 part but once it was replaced it started no problem. It ended up costing me about 3 hours labour at the dealer to get fixed and I wasn't too impressed but i was on vacation at the time and didn't have much of a choice.

Crank sesnor. I drove for two hours and got to my apartment. Shut my car off, grabbed my laundry a snack while I watched tv and rested a little before I had to keep going about two hours away.

Came back out, cranked over, no fire.

Crank Sensor was all it was but I had to have it fixed ASAP and let a good shop do it.

Looks like SHO123 nailed it, the sho came back and said the diagnostic showed that the car's theft feature was the problem. I'll keep the crank sensor in mind in case I run into it again. Also there is a recall for the later 1998's due to the Theft feature not working properly, so I'll get it in to the dealer soon for an upgrade.

Thanks for the help!
