1.I just noticed I have NO sound out of the 6x8 front driver door speaker AND the 6x8 front passenger speaker gets distorted under high bass.
Are the speakers toast OR is there something I can do or check in to? (like bypassing the built in cross over on the speakers?)
2.If they are toast, I noticed Circuit City has Alpine and Infinity 6x8's (both are around $100/pair)... which is better?
and, while I am at it...
3.I have a Bazooka 8 inch sub (self powered) and another self powered 8 inch "tube" sub. I am only using ONE in the trunk, which does OK... (better than the NO BASS stocker :shakehead )... I was wondering if I added the other one, would it help that much? How about setting them where the speakers are facing each other, would that bring more bass?

i have infinity's, they're really nice. Even with the stock sub in my gen 2, they sound really great. Even pump out respectable bass without the sub hooked up, so long as i dont play any rap.

IMHO, the alpines sounded slightly better at circuit city. But i got the "buy one pair get the second half off" deal on the infinity's..

I think either way you'll be happy. My stock sub, 4 infinity speakers, and aftermarket HU sound lightyears better than my mom's 98 mach audio

and i dont know much about the bass tubes, i didnt think so called "audiophiles" liked them that much. But I havent ever really heard them. I do like that infinity basslink tho, that's trick. I was thinking of getting one, but i'm going to go for the mostly stock look when I get my setup this christmas.

good luck man, call me a nerd, but i'm a sucker for a nice sounding stereo.

Sounds like you just need new speakers. You can check at the amp for an ohm reading on each particular speaker. The ground is common to all. I would assume a 4 -8 ohm reading is what you are looking for.

If a speaker reads infinity or open then the coil is fried. The one that is distorted is probably a physical problem with the cone or the coil is on the way out.

I had two Bazookas. One self powered which kept blowing the amp, the other a slave. Finally gutted the amp and wired it to an amp. Still not a very good setup for the room they take up. I finally ditched them.

I have Infinity reference 2 ways in the back and moved the original rear speakers to the front doors and added an 8inch powered tube sub in the trunk, it sounds good and has enough bass punch for me.

hey yeah!!!! :thumb:
the stock rears are 3 way (more bass), right?
If not, what exactly is the difference between the fronts and rears?
