thanks.
well it does look beefier, after looking at it again.

is caliper strength an issue with the 96 upgrade? or just a observation of the two?

I'm going to be doing the upgrade to my 91 either today or tomorrow but i have a concern first. I bought loaded calipers from Autozone for a 96 and the brackets that came with the calipers dont have FN74 stamped on them. Are they going to be the same brackets and just stamped different or should i swap them out for ones with FN74 on them? When i picked them up yesterday i made them double check and see if they were in fact for a 96 SHO.

i know at one time autozone's system had the 96 with the wrong brake setup....if u have some fn74's layin around all ud have to do is do a side by side comparisson....or take the calipers back to autozone and tell emm the brackets r wrong u need em for a 97 SHO

i thought about that so i looked on their website and they have the same part number for loaded calipers for all 96-99 SHOs. I dont think it would do me any good to get them for a later year. I have some FN74 brackets so i guess i'll compare them to eachother. I might just bring them back and go see what Advanced has.

On the conversation of brackets, the Cardone 14-1058 is the correct bracket for the 96 upgrade - should be added to parts list on page 1. Its just a reconditioned oem FN74 bracket. Can be had for $20-$30 from online sources.

New year time for a new post right?

I have a 1995 SHO MTX so I do not have to worry about the caliper or the knuckle in this case if I am looking at things right.

So if I were to go to the pull a part JY for the bracket, then get a pair of these rotors:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Centric-Par...1996|Submodel:SHO&hash=item4cfaff6f35&vxp=mtr

then the front pads: RAYBESTOS Part # BCD598

I think that would be what I need? Looking at the part number from Advanced they are 11.6 diameter so I looked at that when looking at listings for the rotor.

Yep, all of that is right.

11.6 Rotors, 598 pads, and FN74 brackets are all you need on 94-95 cars.

The 94/95 Sho has bigger rotors on it already. Is there a noticable difference putting the 11.6 upgrade on the 94 to 95 sho?

I'd say it's negligible, but the brackets are so easy to come by, you might as well put them on if you are doing pads and rotors.

What are the options for rear upgrades for a 94 using stock parts? Is there a thread for that?

FYI- a little visual comparison:

Here's the stock '95 disc layed on top of a '96-up disc, and a comparison of the mounting points on the caliper brackets- note on the red FN74 bracket the mounting bolts are closer to edge, moving the caliper out for the bigger disc:
