Are the caliper brackets right and left side specific or are they interchangable? NAPA has a part # for the bracket, but no mention of rt. or lt. side.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they are left or right side specific. I have a 95 and I upgraded the brakes to the 96 and I don't remember having to check which one went where, I just threw them on.

Don't know if they are side specific but...
As I recall from prior posts, Napa does not carry the correct caliper brackets for the 96 brake upgrade.

At least every time I saw a post about it the brackets ended up not working. I think they were just SLO brackets.

If you find out this is not the case and they do work please post info here to set record straight.

One bracket fits both sides. I just replaced mine last night. Recommend the OEM brackets from fordpartsonline.com at $36.47 each. Search by OEM part number F6OZ2B134AA for "KIT-BRKT-CAL MTNG".

OK, the brackets sold by napa, part # BK 6751579, do not fit. They do sell a "loaded" 95 Continental caliper assembly that includes the correct brackets and semi-metallic pads for $55.00 each plus core. You can also get them with the ceramix pads for $23.00 more per side. That's a heck of a deal if you ask me. I also got 2 95 continental rotors for $35 each. Pretty cheap for a 96 upgrade. (Thanks Mark W. for the tip on those caliper assemblies!)

On the conti assemblies, do you return the old calipers without the brackets and get your core back? $55 each sounds good for brand new calipers, the brackets and pads sounds hella better than $40 each plus shipping for just the brackets and then another $20 for pads

There's a $35 core charge on each caliper assembly. You are supposed to return the old ones as a complete unit. This is the least expensive 96 upgrade I have ever seen, $180 for brackets, calipers, rotors and pads.

That's a great deal as described. The last loaded calipers I got from NAPA for my explorer only included the calipers, pads, shims & grease. If you got all that for $55, I would have gone that route? NAPA's website has part #RBP4424150A for a the 95 Conti "caliper w/ pads & hdwr" for $63.49 with a $55 core charge. Seems odd they would include caliper brackets as they should last the life of the vehicle.

Hope you guys put in the carbon ceramic pads from NAPA ! They are the best pads I have ever found PERIOD. Put them in 95 when I did upgrade. Very little dust on wheels.

One thing to keep in mind about NAPA is that they are independently owned. It pays to shop around! I called 4 NAPA stores and got 4 different prices on the caliper assembly ranging from $55 to $97 each. Autozone has a similar setup for $72 each. I can post NAPA part #'s if anyone is interested. The label on the box reads "Loaded caliper (including bracket)" Another lister in Illinois did this first and also found the caliper assembly for $55.

I am such a tool AHHHH!! Why couldn't I have seen THIS thread before I went and bought these brackets. I'll just quote my thread I posted over here (which is where I originally found out about the NAPA ones, and nobody corrected them afterwards like in this thread)

I guess I'm the first person that's tried these. THEY DON'T WORK!! @#$%#!@! NAPA!!! It's the same bracket as the non-SHO!!! Go to napa's website, and select your car with the SHO engine, and then with the OHV, it's the same freakin part number!!! Why do I always have to find out these things the hard way? I do my research (which was here where I found these brackets), I take my time,

We were supposed to have been leaving for TX tomrrow too, hopefully my dealer will have them in stock. Can NAPA LEGALLY get away with something like this? I mean this is turned out to be a HUGE inconvenience for us. My dealer probably won't have them in stock so I will have to wait another day to leave. Oh well.

If anyone has this part # on reference for the correct caliper brackets PLEASE remove it ASAP so somebody else doesn't have to go through this too. Damn Napa. Oh well, thanks,

Tom
I guess I wasn't the first to have used these based on this thread. I found out THIS thread by going to search and typing "96 caliper bracket". Somebody should get a moderator to go through ALL posts that mention "NAPA bracket will work" and delete that part out. This really sucks. Hopefully my dealer will have'm in stock. Thanks,

Tom

Alright guys, I'm gonna need some of your help ASAP! I called up my local/helpful Mercury dealer (at 7:30am they were the only ones there :) ) and the service manager, Karl, was very helpful. Now there SEEMS to be a discrepancy with the part#'s here. I gave him the part # listed on the parts list: F60Z-2B134-AA, and he said his parts listing is showing that as the bracket for the regular Taurus (and I guess that part # is no longer valid and has changed too). He said that the listing he had for '96+ SHO caliper brackets were: F6DZ2B292BA
Does anyone know about this or can possibly verify this part# as the correct one I need?

He seemed pretty interested in this and even went to the SHOTIMES website after I gave him the link, right on the phone, and was reading it all off. So I hope he is right, because I've heard there's been problems (besides NAPA) with people getting the WRONG brackets using Ford part numbers. HELP!!! Thanks,

Tom

THIS IS THE PART YOU NEED: F6OZ*2B134*AA LIST $46.75/EA Don't waste you're time telling the dealer what vehicle it's for, just tell him the damn part number.

Here you go:

Maybe your confusion is the LETTER "O" in the part number. That is the LETTER "OH", NOT the NUMBER Zero!

SHOooo hit the nail on the head and also, skip the Ford dealer. You can get each of the brackets next day shipped to you by Ford parts Network for $40.00 each.

Some of the most recent SLOs....read: SSSS lll OOO ss have the same 11.6" front system. Thats why the parts are now so cheap. Not sure exactly which years.

If I tell the dealer the damn part number, and don't bother to double check their listing for it, I could possibly get the wrong part, and be STUCK with it and have to pay for it. Their part #'s change all the time, and according to 2 different dealers, that # is no longer valid, but apparently a DIFFERENT part took over that old number. So without any 100% verification, I don't think anybody would just order the specific part # with a chance of getting stuck with something they don't need. It's not right the dealers can do that, but apparently that's their policy since THEY can't return things ordered from the warehouse.

Not sure exactly what this has to do with, since the issue is about the part numbers of the brackets and not really any prices or anything about ssss ||||| ooooo ss?

Oh well, either way we've decided this has already taken too much time away from our trip to TX, so I'm just gonna drive down there with my current setup, and get the brackets and install it while I'm down there. Thanks,

Tom
