I have a 95 MTX And had a tune up done and after that I have had no secondaries. If I run the thing up till the rev limiter kicks in it feels like the secondaries kick just before the rev limiter.I have checked for loose conections and bad vacum line with no luck. When you start the car the secondaries move from open to closed. Also I think I need a trans if you have one. Where the speedo cable go into the trans a chunk of the trans case is broke off.( And still attached to the cable) :nut: When this happened there was a load clank and it slowed the car down bad then was free. Was this the notorius diff pin? Thanks for the forum!!!

Possibly the vacuum lines did not get reconnected after the top-end work? There are so many little hoses to connect it is easy to miss one or two. There is a small vacuum T under the IAC valve (right behind the TB, just inside the intake "loop"). There is a gray plastuc clip holding it to the IAC. Make sure all 3 hoses are connected to it and the other ends are connected to the secondaries vacuum motor/actuator and the vacuum source.

Give that a try, if you haven't already

I have chased all the vacum lines and still have not found the problem. I am a mech but I did not have time to do the tune up myself and wish I had since that was when it all started. When I say a tune up I just mean the basics not a 60K.I do need a good MTX If any one has one. What I described with the trans, does it sound like the diff pin? The car has also had a problem with missing and stalling.

You can watch the secondaries while someone revs the engine. Haven't done it personally, but seem to recall someone said that you can see the actuator rods move when the secondaries open (~3800-4000 rpm). That might give you one clue if they are actually opening or not. There are a few tiny vacuum lines to track down. I described the ones that drive the secondaries directly (under the IAC). Plus the connector into the black cylinder on the rear of the intake.

No clue on the diff pin. Never done tranny/diff work other than a clutch once. This guy should have a tranny: http://home.earthlink.net/~rcm_automotive/ I know a local source (Twin Cities, MN) if you want the info, PM me, but you'll probably have to drive here for it.

Missing and stalling? Are you certain the plug wires are correctly connected to the coil pack (right order)? Checked for oil in the plug wells? Did the engine ground get removed and not reattached? It is on the stud holding the intake bracket - front end of the engine (Pass side) near the firewall. Did they use the right plugs? SHOs tend to be very sensitive to the wrong plugs.

What was done in the tune up?

This is a bit hard to diagnose without seeing it (and even then it might not be easy).

If your secondaries are not opening, you would really feel it in the driveability....like zero low end torque. To see if they are working, try 2 different rev methods....first approach the rev limiter slowly to see if they move at all...then try quickly snaping the throttle up to the rev limiter to see any motion. I would think if you are seeing them close when you turn the key on, then they are fine. The vacuum is there to close them at startup, so the lines are probably fine.
