O.K., after 13 years and 4 SHO's, I'm on my way out of the SHO world. My '95 silver MTX just blew its engine (rod exploded out of oil pan!). Here's the short story. Has aroung 120K, if I remember correctly, and throwout bearing had was going bad. But I was still driving it. Going up interstate 81 in TN, suddenly the bearing more or less failed, and I couldn't get the car to shift from 4th to 5th. So, I was doing about 75mph in fourth, and boom, the engine blew. I'm real busy and will be changing jobs soon and will not have time to fix. So, if anybody wants to buy the whole thing, I'm willing to give them a deal to get it off my hands. Things you should know:
1.) I bought the car out of Ohio, and its got some rust problems, especially underneath and in the engine compartment.
2.) It had about 77K on it when I bought it.
3.) It's got a relatively new (30K?) Dynomax cat back exhaust.
4.) I thinks its got an aftermarket Y-pipe, but I'm not sure which one.
5.) It has Eibach springs and Tokiko struts.
6.) Interior is gray, solid leather, and all in pretty good condition.
7.) It has a sunroof, with a broken switch, of course!
8.) Previous owner has replaced all the vacuum hoses with the blue silicon ones as so many people have done (not mentioned because of the value, but as evidence that at some point the engine was attended to).
9.) It has non-stock cams, but I don't know who's profile. I can tell such by looking at the visible cam lobes through the oil fill port. Again, all I know is that the profile is much more agressive than the stock, but I've never had the covers off to inspect more closely.
10.) AC Compressor is seized. It was unplugged but not repaired.
11.) Some windows are slow to go up and down, mainly I think because the window skirts are swelled because of rust underneath.

General Comments: Everything else that wasn't mentioned is intact and should be in working order. Before the throwout bearing started getting noisy, the transmission shifted well. I bought the car on ebay from a Ford dealership in Cleveland, OH who took it in as a trade-in. It was sold to me sight unseen with the statment that the body was "Rust-free!" When I got there, I turned in the rental car just down the street from the dealership, and was taken to the dealership by the rental car guy, getting there just before they closed. Payment was made prior, and the Ford guy handed me the paperwork and keys, walked me to the car, and said C-ya. The car looked great from the outside; no visible rust. When I opened the hood, I was horrified to find rust everywhere in the metal surrounding a shiny, new-looking engine. Turned back to question the Ford guy and he was locking the doors. Everyone else was gone. I asked him why he lied about the car being rust free, showing him the engine compartment. He mumbled something about not noticing the rust, and pointed to the paper I had in hand that said AS-IS. So, realizing I'd been screwed (considering what I paid for it, that is), I drove the car home to TN and have been driving it ever since. Whoever owned it before me definitely had done some work on the engine, clutch, and suspension. The car drove with noticably more power than my stock '93 MTX. I know the cams have been upgraded, but I don't know what else was done the engine. Again, I never took any of it apart. It has a cold-air intake installed, but not sure which brand. (I'll check to see if it has a chip installed. That might tell us more about what has been done to the engine tuning.) The clutch pedal had at least twice the pressure as a stock one, which makes me conclude that a stiffer clutch was installed, not to mention that I couldn't get the clutch to slip what-so-ever when I first got it. In spite of the rust, its been a great, everyday driver in the 4 or 5 years I've owned it. Then it died.
Interestingly enough, the engine still ran after it threw the rod (at least it did for the half mile I drove it from point of explosion to the next exit, and then from the tow truck drop off point of my parent's lower driveway to where its now parked at the upper part of the driveway. It will probably still run, but who knows?) So, who wants to come take this nightmare off my hands? If I had the time, I'd take off all the good parts to use on my '93 MTX, which I originally planned to restore to better than factory condition. But now it has become my daily driver, and since I'll be changing jobs soon, I can't afford the time or money to fix or finish either one. In fact, someone who makes me the right offer can have both of them, plus a mountain of other parts, new and used, all to take me out of the SHO world for good. [The '93 needs only a paintjob and a few minor fixes. Its got about '62K on the engine, a rebuilt trans with the Quaiffe, '96 updated subframe mounts, Eibach springs and Tokiko struts and GTP control arms and stiffer anti-roll bars and bushings, only 40K on the following items: every single engine sensor, the enire AC system, and the dash replaced with a NOS from the '95 year model (a difficult find!), 50/50 seats in excellent condition, sunroof, NO RUST!, SHO Shop pulleys, SHO Shop Y-pide, etc. I've got a SHO Shop CAI, larger diameter MAF (can't remember size), and a "Ted Somebody's?" chip tuned for the pair that has never been installed. Oh yeah, just replaced the factory fuel pump with a higher output one.]
I'll try to post pictures soon, and I'll answer any questions you may have. I'm located in East Tennessee, about half way between Knoxville and the Tri-Cities. So, make me an offer on the entire '95, and if your interested, I'm willing to entertain an offer on the '95 and the '93, plus the mountain of other parts I've collected over the years. Trust me, that's no exaggeration! I've got body panels, sets of seats, a set of '95 white doors, engines, blocks, transmissions (auto and manual), heads, cams, bolts of all kinds, new window trim, etc. (I don't know exactly what all I've got, as I've bought so much through the years!) But, I can tell you I can't just part it all out individually. Not becuase I'm opposed to the work. It's just that I literally cannot afford the time. And if someone does want to buy it all, I'll give you a good deal, but I can't let it all go for a steal. Mainly becuase I'm still using the '93 as a daily driver and would have to replace it if it all goes. So, what do you think?

Thanks!

Hey, sorry about your luck.

I'd like to see some pics of both cars. I am located in Kingsport. Where are you located at?

Thanks,

About pictures and location....

Sorry for the delayed response to all those interested. Again, REAL busy. Location of the '95 is near Morristown, TN. I'm in Greeneville; still driving the '93. I've been unable to get pics because I haven't been to my parents house and because my old camera died and my new one had to go back to Best Buy for repair. (2 days out of the 30-day return policy, and they wouldn't exchange. Sent it back to Fuji for repair. Frustrating!) Anyway, I'm gonna try to borrow a camera this weekend and take a boat-load of pics for you guys. Hopefully, I can get them uploaded by Sunday/Monday. On another note, here's some more parts that I didn't specifically list originally that I'm willing to sell in a lot along with the '95...

-Brand new, never used, old-stock 3.0 Engine block!
I bought it off the guy who runs Cincinatti SHO (or atleast helped run it?) about 5 or 6 years ago (can't remember exactly.) It still has the factory serial number tag on it! Can't remember for sure if its the updated, thicker cylinder wall version, but I think it is. (Further, I've probably got enough parts (cranks, pistons, rods, blocks, etc.) to fix the '95's engine. Scratch that, I know I've got enough parts!) ;)

-Entire front-end (bumper, hood, fenders, etc.) from a green '94 ATX. (Actually, I have the whole car, but the engine/transmission/front suspension has been taken out and I removed the front end as a start of parting it out, but never found the time to finish the job. (Also, I used the front knuckles to update the '93 so I could eventually get the '96 brakes!) I still have the engine/transmission, but before I can't guarantee all of the green one as part of the lot, I've got to settle a debate with my dad. He bought my Red '94 ATX off me, and seems to think the deal included the green one's drivetrain. :nut:

-One complete (engine top to bottom) Felpro gasket set and several odds and ends from other gasket sets. (I think I've got a whole, or nearly whole lower set in addition to the above somewhere. (I know, I need to be more specific, and I'll try to be as soon as I get the time to go through everything!)

-A complete set of OTC/Factory tools for the SHO (that includes engine, transmission, and steering rack) plus some custom made tools (like a head holder; comes in real handy when replacing the valve-stem seals!). Of course, I would only sell all the tools if someone bought both the '95 and the '93. But I do have several tools that I've got more than one of, that I'd throw in with only the '95. Specific examples that come to immediate memory are the valve tappets tools and transmission bearing pre-load tool.

More parts that I'll through in with the '95 to be listed as memory serves.

To the specific question about the cams and intake, I don't intent to start parting the thing out initially. I hope to sell the entire thing at once. However, if enough time passes (my dad gets sick of it being in his way) and I actually get the time to do it, I may be willing to part it out piece by piece. But, that is simply impossible for me to do right now. Plus, if I start parting it, the more likely it is that I'll want to start keeping some of the parts to hold back while I still drive the '93! :p

Pictures to follow and thanks for your patience....

O.K. Here's some pictures...

Its been raining for the past several days, so I only yesterday was able to catch a quick series of pictures, literally taken between the rain showers. (It had started raining again during some of the pictures, as you may notice.) Further, you can see that my dad had already began piling up junk around the car. It has sat in that spot for a few weeks now, so its filthy! Also, I parked the thing and didn't bother to clean it out. So, you'll notice some boxes in the back seat and some trash in the front. Plus its pretty dirty/dusty inside, as you'll notice, but I think the interior will clean up nicely! Here goes....

Gruesome picture of thrown rod! My dad happened to lie down in grass in front of car to look under it. That's when he saw this sticking out of the oil pan! (Don't know what happened exactly, but at some point the piston wrist pin had to have snapped, because that part of the rod isn't broken!)

Have you decided on prices for the car/package deal?
Also, when you get time can you post some pics of the '93?
