soory guys for some of my newbie posts but i cant find a mechanic worth a damn in my area. my clutch isnt disengaging fully it seems. the clutch has only 25000 on it and all of sudden i came to a stop and i couldnt get it into gear, so i shut it off, put into gear and started, it lurched forward a few feet then was fine for a few miles. is there just a simple adjustment to try and make or the cable to tight? and recommendations are great. thank all you guys you are very helpful

It sounds like your throw out bearing is toast. But put your foot under the clutch pedal and pull up on it to make sure it's not an adjustment issue. If it is the TOB, perhaps whoever did the last clutch job installed the old style TOB instead of the new style with the steel quill. If you have to replace it, get the ceramic TOB from shonutperformance.

yah i just hate to drop the tranny you know, i cant do it myself so it has to go to the shop. with adjusting the clutch you just pull up on the pedal then push it to the floor?
randy that works for 1st but what about 2-4 those can be tough

You cant even get this thing to idle in gear with the clutch pressed in without it creeping or lurtching?

Check to see if the cable is hooked to the right spot on the shifter arm. I posted some pics of the area...

Clutch fully depressed...

if i shut it off i can get it into gear start it it will lurch but will then stop. it does this off and on. ill be driving and the clutch will be fine, then the pedal will feel soft and i cant get it into gear, then sometimes a few tries later it will be fine for awhile i guess its an intermittant issue. its not slipping by any means

I had the same EXACT problem with my '90 but it was a constant problem that kept getting worse and worse. I had to drop the tranny to see what was going on and it turned out that the whole pressure plate was loose...:shakehead which ruined the pressure plate. Like he says, it doesn't slip, it just doesn't disengage all the way. So I threw a DXD with a ceramic TOB in it now all is well.

It also could be a stretched clutch cable or like itwonder says it could also be a dead throw out bearing.
