and that was a response to no overdrive? All the other gears shift normally? Is it inoperable all the time or only when cold? Tranny fluid full?

Ya when I bought it wouldn’t go into overdrive the owner said it was the switch I couldnt find one So I crimp the two wires fron the switch together I originally had wired an on off switching didn’t work. Then I was told it was the pcm.so I bought a working pcm and installed it didn’t work.the light on the dash is always on

Search this forum for the circlip repair procedure that can be accomplished without removing the transmission.

I wonder if there are any fault codes in the pcm. You should try pulling codes and see what's in there. A few things come to mind like VSS, faulty solenoid, trans internals etc. Maybe the switch itself was never the issue?

1st, you need to undo the "crimped wires to bypass switch" mod - that is hurting you not helping you. The O/D on/off switch is a momentary contact switch which sends a signal to the pcm to flip the state of o/d on or o/d off. With the wires crimped together, the pcm has no idea what your intent is, and you may be damaging the pcm.

2nd, every time you start the engine, the pcm defaults to a o/d on status. So, you only need that switch if you want to turn OFF the o/d.

3rd, pull the codes from the pcm. Since the o/d off light is on, even if you don't press the switch, there will be a code in the pcm that should be helpful to us. Pull the codes and let us know what you find.
