Hey everyone...94 Mtx... Just changed the fuel pump and the sending unit as well as the fuel filter. When she has sat over night in the the morning it fires right up with no issues. When I drive it to work and then leave again after 20 30 minutes when it starts it fires up but runs rough like it's lacking fuel or something. After running for a few seconds and a few low rpm revs it smooths out. I don't know what the it could be. Fuel pressure regulator?... Any advice would help.. Thanks

I'm not doubting your experience... But can you help me understand how that would help if it's leaking down... I thought that would mean that maybe a o ring is going bad or maybe the fuel pressure regulator is leaking........?

the leaking injector will cause flooding and therefore a hard restart.

the injector usually leaks because the pintle does not close completely and that is usually because of "crud" buildup in the injector. injector cleaner will have a reasonable chance of cleaning that out and allowing the injector to close properly again. I have found using acetone (about 5 oz per tank) to be more effective than most injector cleaners, but you have to be really careful not to drip the acetone on any paint that you like because it will eat it up.

How hard is it to pull the upper intake off?... I ordered new injectors and regulator. And plan on doing spark plugs and wires too

There are lots of how to stuff posted about how to do it, but in a nutshell it is very simple. Just pay attention to spark plug firing order and which wire goes where and watch out for small vacuum hoses toward the back. They can get pinched between the intake and head without being able to see it and you can torque the whole thing down thinking you did everything correctly.

Man that helps a lot thank you...looks like I can just pull the fuel rails up and put the new injectors in while I'm there too

I would get the original agsp32pp plugs from shosource if available. Alot of people are running the iridium motorcrafts although the plug height is a tad longer. I wouldn't really bother with the fancy multiprong stuff. The splitfires were problematic, the e3's maybe not so bad but I haven't heard of any improvements either. There were threads about plug fitment but I forget which newer ones had the optimal height to seal at oem height so the wire boot sits perfectly.

Yeah purchase price is usually just the beginning of the actual cost of getting to a reliable running order.

How would I modify it?.....just drain it through the fill hole and fill it like you did?......what fluid do I use?

When I did it in the car, I just took a plastic/paper bowl and drilled through the center of that and left it on the drill bit while I drilled the hole in the bottom of the trans. That way, I avoided getting the drill soaked in oil when I drilled through. I just drilled until it started to drain, let it drain and then completed the drilling.

The mtx uses atf for fluid.

Acetone is acetone, just buy whatever brand the hardware store happens to have. I pour the right amount into an old injector cleaner bottle (with a long, skinny neck) and then use that to pour it into the gas tank. That way I don't have to worry much about spilling it on the paint. But, I learned that I cannot leave the acetone in the injector cleaner bottle because it will eventually dissolve the bottle, so I always empty the little bottle when I use acetone in my tank.
