Just like the title says its having troubles, Its almost like its stuck in second gear, If I take off when cold it shifts from first to second just fine but it wont shift from second to third and its also upshifting and downshifting at about 50 MPH it upshifts like its supposed to then downshifts and keeps doing that I dont know whats wrong Im good with motors but trannys are another story. is there a sensor or could it be a bad shift solenoid?? Do the 94s have the D4U1 upgrade in them. I also heard about a little c-clip that falls off or something. PLease help.

Had a similar problem with mine. Shifted OK but the OD flipped in and out on a whim. Lotsa fun crusin down the highway at 70 then - wam - it shifts out of OD, then back in.
Replaced the switch - twice - no joy. Rebuilt the Shifter - no joy. Rebuilt the damn tranny - same thing.
Started thinking about it a bit more and realized that it was OK when cold - just when things warmed up a bit. Figured that there had to be something in the controller and the controller is the computer. Found one with no known issues here on the boards. Installed it and guess what - that was it all along. Must have had an overheating resistor or something.
Make sure that the tranny and VSS are OK first. Those bridges crossed and it doesn't help you might want to look at the computer.

If you lost OD, then I'm going to say the trans is toast. As far as it shifting in and out of OD, mine was doing that a while ago, and it ended up being the tranny temp sensor (located in the valve body). Even though you don't have a CEL, check your codes.
It seems that everyday I drive the car something else goes wrong with it. Lastnight I was revving my car up for some friends as the muffflers are rotted completley through. well I dont know what happened but the limiter for 4,500 rpms you all know this if you have an atx. well my atx dont stop at 4 grand no more I can rev mine completley out which isnt good for it cuz it will wreck the TC eventually.

sorry to thread jack, didnt wanna make a new thread since i have very similar problem. but my tranny kind of does the same thing, it will hiccup, or jump, or seem like it is up/downshifting around 40-60mph. my OD button does not even work in "D" it will work when i pull it down to "2" and move it back up to "D" but not just in "D" this scares me aswell. could this be the VSS too?
