well 92 MTX you might have just fixed my problem. My belt makes a really messed up noise all the time. When that noise happens i lose all kinds of power and everything like that but it will never die if i am moving. Only when i am stopped and also it wont die if i just start the car and let it sit in my driveway and it also wont get nearly as hot either. left it run for an hour and everything was fine. Also it doesnt really need to cool off long though just for about a min. or so but it depends on how long i drive it too. The longer i drive it the longer i have to keep it off before it will stay running again. So dont know if that makes sense to you or not hope so though. I will try your idea though but will the car even start with the belt off???? and i know i need an alt. too thats going out.

But let me know please if that still sounds about right what happened too you

Yes

The car will start, and run without the belt... It WON'T charge, though..
Mine was up to the "O", or the "R", before I changed pulleys....
Now it is BELOW!! the "L", or at it...
A bad pulley, tensioner, or ALT., can stop your engine DEAD...
OR, you will break a belt... Try it , you can find a pulley for 20 bux plus shipping on here..
Good luck!

NO!!!

Try to find one on the forum!!! The pulley never goes bad, just the bearing..
The assembly is NOT the problem, just the bearing..I got one in 20 minutes of putting an ad on here... 20 bucks, including shipping!!!
The new pulley w/bearing is 100 dollars from the stealership! :nut:
AND!!! REMEMBER!!!! Loosen the pulley nut (14mm), BEFORE trying to move the pulley with the allen adjustor...
DONT ASK How I Know...LOL......
P.S., Goodyear gatorback belt at VATO-ZONE for $18.00!

easy way to diagnose this is to yank the belt off and give your alt and tensioner pullies a lil spin by hand. the tensioner should spin freely and silently. the alt may require a lil more effort, but still spin without any resistance.

ok now if that pulley is messed up is it possible that the alt. will read bad in a test because the pulley, and the alt. is just fine. And there is too much stress being put on the alt.

Well just so you all know. Found the reason why the car dies at least. Fuel Pump is going out it reads 9 psi for fuel pressure right as its about to die but only 26 psi when it runs good but after it heats up it drops fast down to 9. So just letting you all know.

But thanks for all the advise still have to work on the pulley thing though.

Also i dont think that explains why the car heats up all fast but maybe that has something to do with the pulleys i hope anyway anyone have an idea on that one.

No code for CPS either they hooked it up to there computer and said system pass so who know.
