Hey thanks for looking well the problem that i am having is that the engine heats up really fast like gets to normal opearting temp in about 2 mintues from starting it and will usally stop at about the N-O on the temp gauge and the cooling system will turn on now and keep it around there still or maybe a little lower but what the problem is that i think the temp gauge is wrong because for one the oil cap has changed colors from black to white and it looks like the writing on the cap is like melting off so not too sure the other thing with the engine and i have been told this could be the intake gasket or head gasket but i dont think it is that i still have yet to see white exhaust coming out dont know if that always happens or not with a head gasket but after driving it lets say 20 mintues or so usually at a slow speed like around the 20-45 mph range and then i will stop and a light and the car will slowly die it will drop down to about 500 rpm and try to stay running as long as it can but usually thats only about 10 seconds and it will die and if i try and restart it it will turn over and restart start at 1000 rpm but then just die right away again but if i wait lets say about a mintue or two and start is up again and i start moving again but i drove about an hour and a half last week all highway so fast 70-80 and then i got into a parking lot and it died and i couldnt get it to stay running for long then 5 seconds so i came back to it 2 hours or so later and it started and drove all the way back not really sure what to do i am also having a problem with my blinkers and my speedo someone told me it might be the computer ????? Also if this helps i just tryed when i got home just to leave it running in my driveway for about 10 -15 mintues to see if it would die and it did not even driving it also up by where the spark plug wires go in there is oil in the grove right there not alot but it is really think and very dark very very dark and yesterday i noticed that one of the spark plug wires were up a little bit pushed it back down and it sounded like there was fulid in the spark plug housing not sure though couldnt see could it just be oil on the spark plugs causing all these problems also no check engine night has showed up once and the other problem why i think its the computer is when i was driving down the highway going about 70 i heard a loud noise and my battery light is like always on but it shut off and all of the light in and outside of my car started to blink not on and off just got dim and then bright again and then when my battery light would turn back on it would stop please please help not sure what to do dont want to get rid of it might have to make it my project car though :thankyou:

Did you pull codes even if there is no cel on it doesnt mean there arent codes. Oil in the pug wells could cause problems I would change the valve cover gaskets. Head gaskets are not common on the sho. Pull the dipstick what color is the oil does it look like a chocolate shake? Are you leaking antifreeze?

well, if your water pump is taking a whiz all over your crank sensor, your crank sensor ain't gonna be none to happy bout that. of course, both of those get replaced during a front 60k anyway, so go getcha some!

i mean i guess it could be leaking but it doesnt look like it the water pump looks kind of newer and like i said not losing any coolant or if i am its not much i know the alt is going out though i dont know if it would cause the dying or not i will just have to replace and find out but i have been told that wont be the problem

ok but i dont think my water pump is leaking im not losing any coolant

When the water pump starts to leak it loses very little fluid at first, you probably wouldn't notice any coolant missing, but that small amount can be enough to lunch the CPS.

Been there and done that...

well here is a question could this all be caused my the spark plug wire that i was wondering why it came back up again at me today so i pulled it the rest of the way out only the inside of the plug came out ???? i know thats bad so i am guess the car is running on 5 cylinders the spark plug wire is the middle one in the front of the engine could that cause all this dying crap ?????

probably not. my car started and ran with a fist sized hole in the oil pan and a piston pressed against the valves. just about anything else that can cause what i think you're describing will throw a code...except a crank position sensor. if your ECU was shot, methinks you'd be having more problems than you are. and yes, believe it or not, that is possible.

hey one more thing thought of it today. The fact that my car heats up really fast.
So I dont really see how that would cause my CPS to go out.

Im sure one of you guys would be able to answer this one.

In my experience, when the car heats up "fast", it's starting to get low on coolant because it's been ******* on the crank sensor for a while.

The problem is the car always heats up fast and the coolant is full i check it alot because of that fact. So i dont know if that still makes sense or not. But here is something now that i think about it i washed under the engine at one of those do it yourself car washes. Is it possible that the water from that started shorting it out.

Also what i have seen around is that when the CPS goes out the car wont start but mine still will. So is that not true? Or is it that mine has not gone completly out yet???

And it is just shorting out when the car does die.

Maybe...

Mine was doing the same exact thing, turned out to be the tensioner pulley was shot... It would make the car heat up very fast, then it would die, and start when cooled off.
Replaced it when it shot out from under the car and went through a light, then up an on-ramp..
Since then, it doesn't overheat, or die....
Maybe take the alt belt off, and see if it overheats..
If it stays cool, you found it.. :salute:
