I was wondering if anybody in here has had their trans rebuilt and what did it cost. Mine just started acting up recently. When I take off from dead stop it kinda jerks and acts like it is trying to slip. When its cold it has a very hard shift from 1st to 2nd. After it warms up all shifts are real soft. Once you get ti going it seems to shift ok. I really dont want to spend 2k or more to rebuild the trans. May sell but hate to let it go too cheap. The car runs and looks good other than the trans problem. Any input?

Yeah since you have a 93 like me you need to pick-up a 94 to 95 sho atx ecu.

Ford changed the shift patterns in 94 due to the poor shifting of the 93, you can pick one up for little money so it sounds like thats the first thing i would do.

It's going to cost you 2k to get it rebuilt in a proper manner.

Neither a chip not a new computer is going to make up for worn out internals.

Now if you want to sell it, I've always wanted a red SHO....

Okay...........I started this thread about a week ago. Im really not ready to drop 2k to rebuild my trans right now, and I dont know anybody that knows anything about rebuilding a trans. My question is what year SHO trans will fit in a 93 and are they any better than the 93 trans. I would like to just replace with a reasonably priced used one for now if it is worth the trouble. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

so does your computer throw any codes? As far as the 93 tranny, there have been changes to the trans like switching from 23 spline shalfs to 25 for TQ (there are other parts that are involved in this also) and I can't remember the cut off date, I will try to search for it. Getting a code would be the best start. I just received the assembly/disassembly guide in the mail today, along with some other literature. Pull codes and tell us what they are.:thumb:

You can swap the 94-95 AX4S (SHO version) straight in as long as you also replace the torque converter with the correct one. Nothing else is needed. And, yes, they are better than the 93 version.
