93 MTX Cooling Problem

My Temp gauge seems to be telling me that my engine is very hot. There seems to be no coolent leaks. I replace ratiator cap, thermostat, ratiator fan(other was dead), and the water pump is what im worried about. It doesnt seem to be leaking, so its not wore out, but could it be the impellers bad? I want some imput before i go and change the pump wether its some sensor thats bad or not.

are you going by the factory temperature gauge that reads "NORMAL" and the needle is somewhere over the word. As said by some other folks on the forum before, the factory gauges aren't all that accurace, and they do tend to vary quite a bit, not to mention if the sending unit is going or has gone bad. My car sitting in traffic will get all the way up to the letter O before kicking the fan on. Now if I have the windows up and the A/C on, it usually is somewhere between R and M. Is the system pressurized, i.e. does the upper radiator hose have some resistance to it if you squeeze it, or does it feel about the same as when the car is cold?

It is the stock temp gauge, i will go above the normal and some times to the red(in which case i pull over and shut the car off) I have been looking for a laser sensor the senses heat but have not been able to find any at local stores. The radiator hose seems to have the same resistance. Its there a way to check the temp sending unit before i go and replace it? The fan does kick on around the O and R in normal.
