93 atx timing belt auto tensorer spring

Need to find out which way the piece under the spring for the timing belt tensorer goes under the spring. Is it cone shape down or cone shape up into spring. Was sticking took apart to clean, wouldnt go down with C Clamp.

I believe the dimple goes into the spring.

I wasnt sure, tried to keep spring from popping out, but it did and the bottom cap moved.
