If it cranks, it obviously isn't the starter.....

Check the IGN COIL fuse in the underhood fusebox. If blown, unplug the coolant overflow tank sensor connector before replacing the fuse.

There's a LOT that can cause a "crank but no start" condition. If the fuse isn't blown, you'll need to do checks to see if the problem is in the fuel, spark, or air circuits.

I'll check that as soon as I get back to my place.
But its making a weird sort of whining sound like the starter is about to call it quits anyway when I try to start it.

are you sure that whining isnt the fuel pump? it could be that if you dont hear the fuel pump prime the system, it could be your fuel pump or your computer. but if you here it prime the system it could be a couple of differnt things like. CPS,MAF anybody correct me if im wrong

I had a funny sound from what I thought was the starter when trying to start the car. My car ran fine...went out in the morning and it wouldnt fire to save my life.

Paul Nimz gave me this hint:

Try flooring the gas and keep it there while you crank. If it is flooded then after about 30 seconds of cranking it will start.

This happened to me and the car sounded funny when it was cranking. Like the starter wasn't working that hard. In fact it isn't as there is much less compression from the oil being washed down and not sealing the piston rings.

and:
The key indicator of a flooded engine on the SHO is the funny sounding starter. When it happened to me I could have swore the starter was not turning the engine over. Actually marked the serp belt to see if it moved when I cranked. Then of course once the starter was replaced and the same problem I knew that another course of action was needed.
