Hey guys and gals,
So ive been fighting my 92 mtx 3.2 block w/3.0 everything else. Just recently started running bad. Threw codes for irratic can and crank sensor signals. Replaced both to no avail. Ive gone as far as replacing every sensor/computer on the car. Car sputters and backfires out the intake on take off but then runs like a dream in the higher rpms. Starts right up every time but sounds like a misfire at idle. Fuel pressure is 33lbs at idle and 40lbs at wot. Cool pack is good, spark plugs are good.
Cant figure this one out. Please help

Did you clear all the codes and then pull them again after driving the car

I had a 95 MTX that had no codes but too high fuel pressure. It would have a miss from 1500 to 2500 rpm through 1st and 2nd gear. It would run fine beyond that. A new fuel pressure regulator didn't solve the miss, but a different set of spark plug wires fix it.

You can see the plug wire diagram on the link below. The second link has a bunch of SHO related data thanks to member itwonder

Thanks for the update.

That is a hard one to diagnose, was it the routing of the wires or wire failure?
