So yeah..after getting my radio crap fixed today (as seen in electronic/audio forum) I yet again, have another problem with this car. So anyways i was at work about to head home when I try to crank up the car and get nothing. The battery seems fine because all lights work, radio comes on and everything. But the engine isnt turning over at all. No sound is made and doesnt try. Im assuming the starter went out. Im going back up there tomorrow to check out the fuses and all that jazz. And I basically need this fixed in 2 days (have to drive to Florida with this thing..yay). So if anyone can help would be great. Thanks much.

it definetely has to be the starter, or even the ignition coil.. I know autozone checks the starter out for free, if u can take it off

Well... do the lights dim at all when you turn the key? Actually... it kind of wont matter because the switch is on the starter... ;) You might get lucky smacking it with a hammer a few times, but it sounds like your starter wants to go to the big J/Y in the sky. 2 Bolts, 1 clip... easy to pull / check / replace. Or park on a hill and pop the clutch.. ;)

I dunno......if you get nothing when you turn the key?? Have you noticed the starter doing anything weird? Noises? Slow turning over? Maybe the starter, but I've never had one just die all at once. They usully started dragging, or acting up befor dying.

yeah im pretty sure its the starter. the lights seemed fine when checked last night. and i havent had any problems that i know of the past few days. its been working just fine then last night just goes out on me. Ill probably have to find the starter and just take it out and see what we have. Hopefully thats the only problem. Or, maybe ill just give it a few love taps with my hammer haha.

It also just maybe the connections to the battery terminal. Just check it cause mine was just a bit loose and when I turned it over nothing, but all the electronics worked.

So ive been messing around with it today and still nothing. When i went this morning back to work I cranked it once and came right up. Went over to autozone across the street to test the starter. When I turned it off and back on to begin testing nothing. So I tried messing with the battery cables and terminals. Took them off, cleaned them up and reset the wires and it came on. So again I got the guy out there to test. Turned it off then back on, and again nothing. So I dont believe it is the battery terminals after re-setting and putting them back on the battery. It has a good charge but does not turn over. I am now going to get underneath the car and get the starter out and test it. Hopefully it is the problem and nothing worse (like shortage in wire or electrical).

ok guys....i got the starter off and tested it..and it passed. so confused we decided to put it back on. after looking at it one of the cords that goes into the top of the starter (not the positive/negative batter cords) was a little bit damaged and had wire bearing about 1/4 inch. so we stripped it and made a new connection for it. after doing this and putting the battery cords on the car made a squeeling/turning sound. we took off the cords then went away. i then tried to start the car after putting them back on and the noise came back again when i put my foot on the clutch..so now i am confused to **** as what to do with this thing. hopefully tomorrow i can figure something out.

Any way you could post a video of the sound it makes while cranking the car?

I still recommend that you pull your codes.

And who tested the starter (before you replaced it) and said it was fine . . . ?
