Alright, this problem has been going on for quite sometime now. sometimes, the car runs like a champ, but most of the time i have an extreme loss of power. when it is running fine it idles at around 900rpm, when it is not, the car idles at aroun 5-600 and its rough. so it will switch back and forth either at idle or when the car is in motion. ill be driving, ill feel a slight ****, the rpm drops, and i have virtually no power. then a few minutes later, or the next day, it runs fine for a while. when it is running rough, and i mean rough, i hear a knocking that sounds like its coming from the transmission(manual). but like i said before, it runs perfectly all the other times. i had the fuel pump, and fillter replaced. i changed the pos and neg battery cables. i changed the plugs and wires about ten thousand miles ago. my buddy(a mechanic) and i ran codes, all we came up with was it was running lean. checked the coils, checked the ignition module (i dont know the acronym, it sits on the manifold i think).checked the MAF(he tapped on it and said if that were messed up the car would have died or something-that was the extent of the test on that) still nothing works. oh yeah and the check engine light comes on and off, on when it runs rough and off when it runs smooth. anybody have a clue?

Im not sure tonight, i can get them tomorrow. i do remember one code 136. the computer didnt have any input for this code, niether did the chiltons book.
i wander if it has anything to do with the lean mix code, an o2 sensor?

i started it cold tonight and it was fine (1400rpm), when i let the clutch out it dropped to 5-600. and then ****, back to mormal. ill see if it does the same thing tomorrow.
