My 91 SHO (mtx) is dying intermittenly in the same way described by Thermopyle in his recent post about his 95. It dies at odd times, sometimes after a short drive, sometimes after a long drive, then it refuses to start (although it cranks) until I let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
I recently replaced some old battery cables, and when I did so I checked/cleaned all the engine/computer ground points. Since then the only code I have gotten is a code 41 in the KOER test. I got this code before I replaced the batt. cables and reset the computer, but prior to that I also got the codes for the crank and cam position sensors in addition to the 41.
So I suppose since I am short on cash right now I mainly just want to replace the O2 sensors, cam and crank position sensors. I need to do the whole 60k actually, but is it possible to do the above three things without removing the valve covers/intake? I heard of a front 60k but am unsure of what it entails.

Are you sure the code it threw wasn't a 14? My car recently was experiencing the same exact problem as yours. It is also a 91. I ordered a CPS because that is the problem. My car would stall sometimes on short drives other times on longer ones. then i would just crank and crank but not start. I went home to call the tow because i have roadside assistance :D and when i got back it started right up. This is a common CPS failure. Go to fordpartsnetwork.com it is the cheapest place to get a CPS $80. good luck.

CPS sensor is a lot less at AutoZone and works perfectly.... Sounds like you need may need one...

Next time it stalls and will not fire, watch the CEL light and the tach while cranking.

Is the CEL light still on after several seconds?

Does the tach register anything (several hundred RPMs)?
