Good decision to fix it. My recommendation is to do the grunt work yourself (cut out the rust and weld in new panels) but then find a bodyman to do a little sidework for cash, and do the finish work on it - mudding, priming, and painting. It will be well worth the investment if you plan on keeping the car for a little while.

If you know how, are able to and want to do the time, then Fix it!
If you couldn't do yourself and had to pay a shop, then I'd prob say keep it for a winter car as long as possible or sell it while you still can and hopefully be able to find a no rust replacement.
