I am looking for help, my '91 Mtx transmission is stuck in reverse. The stick will move freely from the reverse and 5th position as if though it was in neutral, but it is in reverse. It will not move left into any gears.

I'm assuming that you have a cable shifter and one of your cables broke. Remove the shift **** and then pop the console bezel off and remove the shift boot. Report back what you find.

Everything looks good there. The problem is probably going to be at the transmission end of the cable.

Crawl under and take a look at the shifter and the place where it meets the tranny. Take some snaps if you can.

I got access to a lift and here is what I found, I was able to reconnect it for a temporary fix. But I figure it will eventually happen again.

As above send them a message with a link to this post or your pics so they can confirm that the replacement part is correct. It's fixable just whether or not the replacement part exists. I haven't had a cable shifter since the mid to late 90's so I can't say 100% that's the part. Looks encouraging.

I think you need the white bushing repair part from Sho Source. It is the one that says located at the transmission side of the cable.

Looks like an easy repair. I had to fix my shift cable at the shifter earlier this year. When I bought my 89 back in May I was perfectly happy keeping it a cable shift car but now I've decided that I'll be adding a rod shifter to it this spring. When you have cars with both it really stands out how sloppy the cable shifter is.

My 90 SHO has a cable shifter with replacement cables that came from the SHO Shop about 15 years ago.

It is the best shifting unit in my stable. Cannot explain it.

I would try to get replacement cables if they are available.

I do remember them being fairly pricey, but part of that was due to the trouncing you take when your part crosses the border.
