Hi... ok another lil update... figured out where to put the maf and how to plumb it.... so i take the car on a test drive to the gas station... get stoped by the cops lol one of my a###oles next door called the cops on me and said i was reving the car (bs.) hehe anywho i got a ticket.. need to redone the exhaust since the street legal baffle didnt make my car street legal out here... well onto my question...

ok the car boosts to 3psi everytime no matter the rpm.... it kinda makes me think that the wastegate is seeing 8psi but the motors not.... my idea on this one is because of the Volume of the intake plumbing is so large that theres a Big pressure drop.... also the waste gate gets its boost signal from a 2inch elbow Right off the turbo before it goes into a 2¼" pipe into almost 4 feet of 3inch pipe into 2.5" the rest of the way to thhe tb where it flares out for maybe a foot work of 3inch pipe.... so my idea is to move the vacuum line that goes from the waste gate to that lil elbow and to give it true boost from the intake manifold and see if that brings it up or not... if it dont then im clueless as i dont think theres any leaks at all....
and i Know the turbo can push much more than 3psi!.. 3psi is Hardly enough to open the bov when i shift.

Any Ideas? or feed back....

-Bob

P.s. pulls ok at 3psi :D

the wastegate should be getting its boost signal from the intake manifold.

Why are you using 3" pipe for piping? All that does is add lag. Check for boost leaks too.

i used 3" sections since thats what i had laying around.. cant aford to buy more piping so i used what i had laying around.. i know it adds lag. but its not to bad. i start to see boost at 2900rpm's still 400rpm higher than id like but you cant win them all on a $0.00 budget.. and there are no boost leaks.. i sealed all of the weld with jbweld just to make sure its perfectly sealed. and yeah i think i will put the boost signal on the manifold and see what happens.

Thanks.

-Bob

edit.... just some food for thought.. 3psi of boost on a 3.0 works on 87 octane :D :p

Does your boost guage read -0- when the engine is off? Was the motor free revving or under a load when you checked the boost level?

under a load...0-45mph 1st and 2nd gear run.. the boost guage Might be a hair below 0 when the cars not running.... i used this boost guage in my stang and in my talon and it reads right as my talon had the 16g on it and the wastegate is set at 8psi... when i didnt use my boost controller or had it closed all the way) it made 8psi...

well as soon as i get the b@lls to drive the car again or get the exhaust redone i will see if moveing the vacume line from that lil 2" elbow right off the turbo to the intake manifold and i will see if it hits 8psi then (all this after adding some 93+octane booster) just to be safe...

-Bob..

P.s. besides the low boost... all is well she pulls good even at 3psi... no problems sofar minus the MEGA LOUDNESS...

question... did you hook up both sides of the exhaust manifolds to the turbo yet?

yeppers... running all 6 to the turbo... only thing thats not right with the car is i couldnt get the rear manifold to y-pipe to seal since theres no exhaust studs i had to weld it up there so its not a perfect seal =( so boost comes on slower than id like.. aand i get 3psi max even with my bleeder valve boost controler opened up all the way... so i know its the exhaust thats messing with the boost... im just gonna take it to a shop and have them fix it since theres no way for me to remove the manifold to drill it and put in new studs....

Btw the cars quick :D bout damn time! and holy shizznit the TurboXS RFL BOV is Really F****** Loud!!! hehe.

the rear exhaust manifold is really easy to get off. You have to take the exhaust manifold off from underneath the car. Remove the heat shield and the bolts are very accessable. Wait until you get the chance to hear the BOV at 10 lbs!!!! Good luck.

pop your hood. Look up against the firewall. There will be 2 12mm head bolts on the top of the exhaust manifold. use a long extension, a 6 point 12mm socket. There is also a bolt in the middle towards the bottom of the exhaust manifold. there you go.

you may have better luck breaking them off, so if you need a manifold we have one you can get with the bolts and everything.

again id like to thank you NCTaurusSHO i just removed the heat shield... not that hard to do at all... just had to move some stuff outta my way then it was easy as pie!.... im now working on the manifold/breaking some of my welds (PITA!) and cutting off the y-pipe (didnt feel like adding another ******... just welded it together my mistake!)

good job... glad you got it off. Yeah just let us know if you end up needing another one.

didnt mess up the manifold... boost is good... 8psi is great!... tho it umm studders or almost shuts off at 8psi past 4k-4500 rpms... my guess is im running outta fuel... i might be one of the unlucky sob's with the vulcan 3.0 fuel pump =( i start to see boost at 1500rpms :D MUCH lower than i was expecting (still have a leak before the turbo.... ran outta weld with 3/4 of a inch of the up pipe to finish welding! doh!)... i was gonna be happy with 2500rpms hehe. oh yeah it pulls decently hard... too bad i cant feel the power past 4 grand =(

check engine light still comes on for some reason... might be my hack job with the maf wiring. but who knows... im gonna have t0o just take it easy for a while till i get some fuel upgrades.... when i have time ill check the engine codes and see whats going on.

Problem solved!

ok i found out why my check engine light kept comeing on... the pipe that mates up with the tb kept blowing off under "high boost" and that of course messed with how the car ran... so my fix for that was... to take a hose clamp and run it Under the hose clamp on the tb and under the hose clamp on the pipe that connects to the tb and lope it around and tighten that hose clamp down "Pulling" the to sections together and well that worked!... now i just need to get some more heat wrap and wrap up the turbo plumbing as it does get a tad to warm for my likeing.
