Looking for a good home for this car. Family situation dictates culling of some of my "projects". First owner was a pilot that put the majority of the miles on(100,000). I bought the car from my mechanic.
Here's the basics:
89' 3.0 L manual trans.
Stainless mufflers
Power everything
cruise control
Keyless entry
Sunroof
Alpine CD stereo with remote
Body has one small dent near fuel fill
Tiny bit of surface rust
Car was typically parked at our local airport so second paint job faded
Top of dash cracked
New upholstery but cig burn on back seat
New water pump & timing belt
Tires about half tread

What doesn't work:

Passenger & rear windows
Sunroof switch. If I fiddle with it, it'll open & close
A/C, climate control box has a mind of it's own
Rear shocks & tie rod ends need replacing
Steering pump hose small leak
"Coolant" light is coming on but radiator holds coolant so I'm assuming it's the sensor at the holding tank
Primary filter on fuel pump. There was a short period of time after mandatory ethanol regs where non-ethanol gas was not available. Didn't drive it too much until the small boat harbor starting providing the good gas. Fuel system pressure test is good and since I don't have any problems unless I drive a period of time (about a 1-1/2 hours) I'm assuming "****' is accumulating at the sock on the pump pick-up. I have a new pump, primary & secondary filters. I'll install if car needs to be driven any distance.

Well, that's the long and short of it. I'm asking $1500 and BTW me and the car are in Hawaii (Kona). I wish I could keep it, retire and work in my shop but the timing's not right. As I mentioned, just want to see this car go to someone who can do it right.
Pics to follow!
Aloha and looking forward to everyone's input.
Aloha

Good luck with the sale. If i were still living in Hawaii i would hop on the Super Ferry and come check it out. That being said i will go ahead and let you know that this forum is the wrong place to be trying to sell your car. Since i have been on the forum, you are only the second member from Hawaii i have seen on here and i was the other one. That is your main problem. If one of the 99.99999999% of the other members on here wants to buy your car they would have to fly to you and have the car shipped back. I know 18 months ago when i moved out of state it cost me $1100 to have my SHO shipped off the island. Then that brings it to the next problem. You have to be the registered/titled owner of the car to have it shipped out of the state of Hawaii, so any potential buyers from the main land would have to buy the car then somehow get it registered and then wait to get a title in hand before they could ever think about having it shipped. About a year ago there was a green 94 atx for sale in Honolulu with 34k original miles. That car was up for sale for a several weeks and i really dont know if it ever sold. Your best bet would be Craigslist or something more localized to where you are.

Again, good luck and i hope it sells quick for you.

Here are a few pics of my 91 at the Oahu northshore.

Livn' in paradise

Thanx IP. Yes you have described the situation fairly well......living on a rock in the middle of the Pacific!
Despite having many car enthusiasts over here, the typical response when I open the hood is "what the heck is that?". And so I thought I might reach out to the SHO community for better exposure to people who can understand just what this car is all about. I've tried to price the car anticipating shipping (to the West coast, accurately depicted by IP) and I'm willing to take offers. As I mentioned, I just want the car to go to someone who can appreciate it.
As IP mentioned, the biggest hurdle would be viewing the car in person. Anybody here need a vacation? LOL.
Anybody on President Obama's "surf" team visit this forum and need a "yankin" toy while they stay in Hawaii? I'll throw in a couple of soft surboard racks! LOL.
I wanted to mention, the title/paperwork would not be an issue as both parties can meet at the local DMV office and have all the paperwork transferred on the spot.
BTW, nice pics of your car IP. Thanks again
Aloha, Milanyo

Then again...This car wont be registered in the US if i buy it :) It'll be torn down and sent to me piece by piece where it will be reconstructed under a different platform...I'll be keeping you in mind...:)

Sorry for that late reply, no computer for a week.
Biggest drawback of liv'n in (this) paradise, being in the middle of the Pacific.....is that I'm no where near any of the four corners of the earth! Or any where else for that matter...... Istanbul, wow!?!
Just curious, what sort of "platform" are you referring to?

Buying a 1986-1988 taurus...Swapping all the pieces over and calling it a day...Seriously im a extreme SHO fanatic..I used to live in jersey and had a few i still have a gen 3 sitting in the garage back home...But my 89 was my girl...But your's is the mythical one i want...I have always wanted a fully loaded SHO and your's is so damn close to it :)

So swapping parts from an 89' to an earlier model? Interesting, what are the advantages? I'm not entirely familiar with all the options available for that model year but it does strike me as being fully loaded, except for the leather. I'm a bit of a SHO newbie, I wasn't even aware of them until my mechanic turned me on to this car.
Just found out my fiance's brother owned an 89' SHO (in Florida), hearing him tell stories endless Camaros being left in the dust. Very cool car for sure!:salute:

The advantage is there are no taurus sho's in this country i would actually own one...There is no advantage besides that. Most call me an idiot but i'm a man in love :)

LOL! Understood. No man is an island but at least a small part of ourselves needs to feel a certain uniqueness for comforts sake. :salute:
