just to recap, my 89MtX would not start after doing the 60K, i checked and i have fuel pressure at the rails, good spark, and good compression. My feul injectors however are not fireing at all. The only thing i can think of is that the computer is toasted. I'm replacing it tomorrow and will let you all know if it helps. in the mean time, doese anyone else have any ideas??

sounds to me like there is a connector still left unpluged somewhere... a friend and i did his car and i undid a plug... well after getting everything done we went to start it and nothing would happen.. checked out everything and we had no fuel pump turn on at all.. looked under the hood for awhile and finally saw the connection that was left undone (very small single wire connection at that)... plugged it in and vrrroooooommmmmmmm.... So go over all connections with a fine tooth comb if you have to...

did that once, but i'll probably do it again, in the mean time i talked to some techs from ford and to a performance mechanic uphere, and they both seem to think that the crank position or cam position sensor could have something to do with it. so i'll keep trying and if i find anything out, i'll post it. any other advice would be welcome.

ok, talked to a guy that works for ford, and also a local high performance mechanic and they both said that the crank position senser could be the problem, they said that i could check the voltage out of the sencor and tell if it was bad. so while trying to crank the car, i checked voltage on it and the camshaft position , and the cam checked out but the crank gave of no voltage at all. so i guess that's the next thing to replace. i didn't know that the cps could cut fuel though,, anyone else heard of this??

The cps is actually the cts-crank timing sensor. And it does send a signal to your eec module. If it is bad then no signal is sent and the module doesn't send out the ground to the pump and it won't work.

If you are getting spark the CPS is working just fine. The CPS does not have any effect on the fuel injector firing, only spark. You would also get an error code set in the EEC if this sensor was not providing a signal. If you are getting spark the same goes for the CID (cam) sensor. You will still get spark with that one failed too, but it just won't be in the correct firing sequence.

I think Prembird is on the right track. There are two round connectors (one 8 pin and one 4 pin) that house all of the power supply and ground connections for the fuel injectors. Check the thick wiring harnesses on the rear bank of the engine. There are three connectors attached to the metal plate that bolts to the passenger side rear intake manifold bracket. Verify these are securely connected. Did you push any of the wiring harnesses out of the way with any great force to get the manifold off or on?

i would start by going over that harness really well... depending on how hard you had to move it you might have pulled a plug from inside the wiring harness itself or poped a wire in half inside... but go over that part of the harness with a fine tooth comb..
