89 dash light dimmer/intenior light switch

maybe this ? goes here!!?? My 89 dash dimmer is shot,the old reastat (sp?) style will only turn the dash lights on when the interior lights click on. Is there a modern replacement or fix for this? Anybody got a good one? Thanx

If the '89s use the same dimmers as other 1st gens you can use a 2nd gen one. Those dimmers don't have the coiled spring rheostat to dim the lights, they use a circuit board dimmer that works much better.

I have an 89 that came like that and it's installed weird, I don't think it fits right. It's also upside down, push it down and the lights come on!

Are you sure? I have a dimmer from my 95 SHO and one from a 94 SLO and both have the huge coiled spring. Are you thinking of the Gen 3 SHO?

Yep, I have one in my '90 that came out of a '94 and I have one out of my '93 parts car that is the same. I'll take some pics of it tonight.

i have one in my computer (yes in the computer, it controls my fans) out of a 91 that isn't the coil spring, also the mocha 91 and the 93 are the same, no coil.
